    To expand my answer a bit, Tom goes through quite a lot depending on the owner he has. (Especially Clint Clobber). Even other characters beat him up for getting in their way, mainly Spike but usually he's protecting Tyke.

    I don't recall Granny getting too abusive with Sylvester, but I did watch way more Tom and Jerry than many of the cartoons with Sylvester in it, so there could be way more that I'm missing with Sylvester.
