Wiesel is a holocaust survivor who wrote Night, which is an account of his personal experience in the Holocaust where he has experienced Auschwitz and witnessed his father die. Night is a common reading assignment in the classrooms.

Ah yes. I remember reading his novel in 10th grade as my last reading project before summer. The book put into perspective the the brutality of World War 2 using anything from the crematories to being forced into ghettos. What a book, what a way to educate students about WW2. Hopefully, Wiesel is resting peacefully.
