I only just found this out today.
I am profoundly, deeply saddened to hear this, possibly more so than I ever have been for any celebrity passing as far as I can remember. I have been a fan of Patrick mostly from the X-Men series by FOX (such as X-Men 2000, X2: X-Men United 2003, X-Men The Last Stand 2006, X-Men Days of Future Past 2014, and Logan 2017) and I always thought he performed excellently in his rule as Professor Charles Xavier. Some folks who have been around here for longer may remember I even made a thread here once about that movie series because I was so into it when I was 18, and while I've somewhat pivoted to other movies and TV shows now and haven't revisited that series in a few years, the original trilogy in particular will always hold a special place in my heart and I will be sure to think of Patrick when I rewatch them one day, which I'm sure I will.
I will also go to see Avengers: Doomsday when it comes out (despite not being a consistent Marvel fan outside of X-Men) which will be his final film role as Professor Charles.
I never saw Star Trek but I know many people deeply enjoyed his role as Jean-Luc Picard.
I also never read Making It So but maybe I will one day, and as someone currently writing something like a memoir (which unlike Patrick I am unlikely to ever make public, but may share with close friends) I definitely respect anyone who has the dedication and bravery to tell their story.
I deeply respect Patrick for who he was as a person, for example by being an ally for LGBTQ+ rights and supporting Sir Ian McKellen and Elliot Page, and he will be deeply missed.
May his memory be a blessing and may he rest peacefully.
