I understand why Nintendo chose to go the route of emulation with 3d All Stars, but a native port of 64, Sunshine, and Galaxy would've been so nice. Emulation almost always has input lag due to the nature of how it works. Thus, whenever I want to play, let's say, Super Mario Sunshine, I end up using my original disk on the GameCube because it plays much faster in terms of inputs.
I do enjoy some of the graphical improvements 3d All Stars introduced. Primarily the widescreen (although I miss the heat waves of the GameCube version), but those graphical improvements don't really compensate for the slower inputs and minor lag.
It's depressing to know that you'll never get to play certain games at their best due to companies opting to sell emulated versions instead of porting them.
Imagine a full port of Super Mario Sunshine running at 60fps with no input lag. We've seen companies like Capcom do this with Resident Evil so it'd certainly be possible. Unfortunately, it seems more likely games like Super Mario Sunshine will be doomed to be preserved only via inferior and slower emulated versions.
