Super Mario TCG Bios project

Meta Knight

Accepting applications for The 'Shroom
Core 'Shroom Staff
I don't mean to be stepping on any toes, but I wanted to make a thread for the progress of adding bios from the various trading card sets to their respective characters. This is so that I can easily keep track of what I have done and haven't done, as well as for what others have done. This thread also serves so I can discuss about the TCG without flooding the general discussions thread.

Managed to swipe some Super Mario Galaxy card descriptions from this video.

Trivia: A Power Collection said:
To rescue Princess Peach, Mario must explore and do battle throughout the universe, collecting Power Stars at the end of each mission. Mario must collect as many Power Stars as possible.

Test your knowledge:
1. Who does Mario have to defeat to gain his first Power Star?
a) Dino Piranha b) Hungry Luma c) Polari

2. How many green Power Stars are there in Super Mario Galaxy?
Three

Queen Bee said:
When Queen Bee has a request, it's hard not to oblige. She's quite comfortable in her home in the Honeyhive Galaxy, except for a persistent itch on her back that she just can't seem to scratch. Mario can help when he "powers up" into Bee Mario and crawls around on her back. In the process of helping Queen Bee, Mario finds five star chips, which will create a Launch Star that leads him to the Power Star!

Urchin said:
Urchins are spiky blue fish that Mario must face in an underwater challenge in the Beach Bowl Galaxy and a land mission in the Freezeflame Galaxy. They roll along the seafloor or ground trying to poke Mario with their spikes. There are also red Urchins in lava areas that Mario can hit with a fireball or trick into falling into the lava.

King Kalient's Battle Fleet said:
Once Mario gets to the top of this planet in the Good Egg Galaxy, he finds that it is littered with half-buried blocks. It's tempting to climb up to grab all the coins, but if he does, he becomes visible to his enemies. Mario needs to focus on the Launch Star, which is located on the top of the Bullet Bill cannons and protected by Electrogoombas. Mario must spin them away to claim the prize.

And also some Mario Kart Wii ones that we don't already have (remind me to thank this guy).

Golden Mushroom said:
Golden Mushrooms generally show up in the Item Windows of races near the back of the pack. It's an awesome tool for those unfortunate enough to be in that position as they can use it to catch up to those in front. Unlike other Mushrooms,, however, you can tap the Item Button as many times as you'd like to maximize your boost. Be sure to cut corners where possible with this Item.

Game Tip!
The prolonged boost of speed is great when using the power of the Golden Mushroom, but don't forget that you still have to navigate the sharp turns!

Kart: Booster Seat said:
A baby buggy on the race track!? Starting 'em young! The Booster Sear definitely belongs in the Lightweight category. Expect strong stats in Acceleration and Handling with lower numbers in Speed and Weight categories.

Tips From Pit Row
There's a trade-off to consider with the Booster Seat. It's very quick, but it doesn't stand a chance when "trading paint" with other Karts-avoid mashing!

Tips & Trivia: A Fall-Behind Strategy said:
1. If leading a race, you won't pick up what item?
a) Spiny Shell b) Triple Bananas c) Green Shell

2. True or False: The blast radius of a Bob-omb is about the same as that of a Spiny Shell.
True

Where R U?
The Crusher can flatten you like a coin on a railroad track. What track contains this menacing machine?

U R Here.
Watch out for the giant Crushers after the first right-hand sweeping turn in Toad's Factory.

Game Tip!
If you're struggling in a race and feel like you don't have a chance to win, you might want to consider sandbagging and falling into last place. This could be your best opportunity to pick up those Items that can send you rocketing toward the front.

Maybe there's more YouTube videos which show the back of cards? Some others I've seen only rush through showing the front picture to the viewer.

Oh, there's another good video for ones we don't already have:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qzDL_3Yf9-0

Blooper said:
Of all the items in the game that can be used offensively, the Blooper is the most unique. Its effects won't directly cause any Karts or Bikes to crash. Instead, it coats all racers in fromt of you with a blinding ink. The effects last for about 7.5 seconds and will hopefully slow those racers down in the process. Did you know that you can dissipate the ink by using a Mushroom?

Game Tip!
Try to use the Blooper item when racers in front of you are entering a particularly tricky section of the track. It'll make it even harder for them.

POW Block said:
The POW Block isn't a new concept within the Mushroom Kingdon (think Mario Bros.), but it is a brand new item for the Mario Kart series. If you're lucky enough to get this item, activate it and the POW Block appears over the heads of all other racers. When it disappears after about five seconds... POW! Everyone (but you) spins out and stops, allowing you to gain some ground.

Game Tip!
The POWerful effects of this dangerous item can be avoided. The secret is that you have to be off the ground when the POW Block unleashes its power.

Funky Kong said:
Funky Kong spends much of his time hanging out with the likes of Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong. You can hang out with this cool ape too. If you accept the arduous challenge to unlock him.
Take note: Funky Kong drives like a mad monkey, so he's worth the effort.

Bob-omb said:
Bob-omb, like other projectile items, can be tossed out in front of your vehicle and it can be dropped behind you, as well. When it lands it will tick for a couple of seconds and then unleash its explosive pay-load on those unfortunate enough to be near it. If tossed or dropped and it hits another character or another object, it will explode on contact. Talk about having a short fuse!

Game Tip!
If another racer is drafting behind your Kart or Bike and you happen to pick up a bob-omb, be sure to have them say hello to your little friend.

Triple Green Shells said:
A powered-up form of the single Green Shell, when activated, the Triple Green Shells form somewhat of a protective barrier around your vehicle helping you to fend off attacks. Then they can be fired, one by one or in rapid succession, forward or backward depending on your needs. A Kart or Bike at comes into contact with a Green Shell will crash and come to a complete stop.

Game Tip!
Activate the Triple Green Shell item as soon as possible. The three Green Shells will protect your vehicle AND you'll be able to pick up other items.

May someone help out by getting the bios from the last three minutes of that video? Otherwise I'll do it tomorrow.

Some more from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbAGM6nme0w

Mario Circuit said:
The grounds around Princess Peach's castle have been changed over the years. Now there's a track built around them that Mario has taken a liking to. The layout is fairly standard...right turns, left turns, straight-away...and relead. Watch out for Chain Chomp as you round the last right turn!

Beast Alert!
With Star Power, cutting across the sandy area where Chain Chomp roams can be a very good tactic.

Special Cup said:
Two Special Cup tracks. Bowser's Castle and Rainbow Road have been Special Cup stalwarts. This time around the names may be the same, but the layouts are new & improved–they're no cakewalk. In fact, these could be some of the most difficult tracks in Mario Kart Wii.

Triple Mushrooms said:
Triple Mushrooms are a great find! Instead of the 1.5 second boost you get from a single Mushroom, if timed correctly you can get up to a 4.5 second boost of speed. Perfect for those times when you can cut corners by going through an off-track infield area. Instead of slowing down because you've gone off the track, you boost right through the rough stuff and back onto the track.

Game Tip!
Be aware of WHEN you use each of the Triple Mushrooms. Use one too soon after another and you'll sacrifice some of the benefit of the one in effect.

Unfortunately, he doesn't turn a lot of the cards around. :-\

And https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjO2txLiQro (they sound Aussie!)

Daisy said:
This tomboy Princess feels right at home shedding her dress for a biker suit in Mario Kart Wii. You will find that Daisy is not afraid of getting her gloves dirty–if you take the steps necessary to unlock this alluding racer. Try Daisy when setting your sights on breaking Time Trial records–she's really fast!

Tips & Trivia: It's Drafty In Here! said:
Trivia!
1. Which baddie can flatten you like a pancake?
a. Fire Snake b. Monty Mole c. Thwomp

2. True or False: A Fake Item Box can only be dropped behind you, not launched out in front of your Kart.
false

Who am I?
Who gets to wear this adorned crown in the Mushroom Kingdom?
I am...
Rosalina! (And don't forget Luma.) Rosalina and her little Star bussy are all but inseperable as they ride in the big Karts and Bikes.

Game Tip!
If you're drafting on another Kart and that racer decides to drop an Item, there's not too much you can do except take the hit because it happens fast. That's the main risk. However, the upside is that a successful drafting attempt will give you a nice little boost of speed.

Piranha Prowler said:
Heavyweight Kart racers (& those who love them–you know who you are) are a special breed and they gravitate toward a certain type of vehicle. Piranha Prowler is that kind of kart and it'll let you throw your weight around!

Tips From Pit Row
Love a smash-em-up, fill contact style of racing? This one's for you! Give the Piranha Prowler a go as it's one of the heaviest Karts in the game.

Maple Tree Way said:
Maple Treeway is a track that offers a vast array of terrain. There are tricky turns and a plethora of pesky obstacles and baddies for you and your rivals to navigate and avoid. Watch out for the piles of leaves as they will make your race miserable if you make contact with one of them.

Beast Alert!
Wigglers just go about their business. The problem is that they have a knack of getting in your way!

Mushroom Cup said:
Long-time Mario Kart fans may experience déjà vu when checking out the first two tracks of the Mushroom Cup. Luigi Circuit looks a lot like Luigi's tracks from other Mario Kart games and Moo Moo Meadows harkens back to Moo Moo Farm. But rest assured, the layouts are new.

Bowser Jr. said:
With his fiery red ponytail blowin' in the wind, Bowser Jr. is no longer riding shotgun in Mario Kart Wii. One of Bowser's favorite minions, this little troublemaker is now in the driver seat and can provide quite a challenge for any player. If you're ready for some fun, unlock this Koopa and hold on.

Tips & Trivia: Double Up! said:
Trivia!
1. Which Item cannot be thrown? a. Green Shell b. Mega Mushroom c. Red Shell
2. True or False: It's very easy to avoid an Item dropped from a vehicle you are drafting behind.
False

Where R U?
Where will you find a giant snow-capped carving of Mario?
U R Here.
Mario on a snow board? Must be DK Summit. Be sure to check out what happens when you race as a Mii.

Game Tip!
If you pick up an Item that you can drag behind your vehicle (bananas, shells, etc.) it's usually best to activate the Item, but not let it go until you're really ready to use it. Why? Because there may be ANOTHER Item to pick up while you're holding onto the first!

I'm a bit late to this party, so I don't know if this project is still going on, but I have a Bramball card with a description. If you need photographic proof, I can supply it, but I need a place to post it.
Bramballs are spiny-legged villains that move one giant step at a time. Their long legs and large size can make them a tricky baddie to bypass. If you sneak beneath them and jump, you may get some coins. The real point of vulnerability on a Bramball is its head section. Bopping them on the head can knock them right out of the competition.
I know I own some others I can dig for

Yeah this is still going on, i've been busy with schoolwork and 'shroom business that I havent had a lot of time to work on this. Hopefully I can get back to it soon.

No worries, it's easy to get sidetracked with other stuff.

So I was thinking... Instead of collecting all the bios just for the separate character pages, why not have them included in a table on each trading card article? Rather than simply listing the card names, a table could also show an image of the card. This would allow the galleries to be merged. It would also allow editors to effectively view which bios/card images are missing, so they may be found and filled.

==Drivers==
# || Image || Name || Bio

I think it's a great idea! That will make things immensely easier to keep track of

I apologize for being a bit late with this, but I saw this thread and thought I might be able to contribute something. I had a few of the Super Mario Galaxy cards collecting dust with some other Nintendo merchandise. If you need photographs or a video of these let me know. Otherwise I'll just write out the descriptions here.

Spring Mario said:
BOING! Here comes Spring Mario after he grabs a Spring Mushroom in the Toy Time Galaxy. Use this fun Mario transformation to jump higher than ever before - and jump everywhere for that matter (Mario can't run as Spring Mario). Using the Spring Mushroom, Mario will be able to find hidden items in the air and climb steep levels with ease.

Fiery Dino Piranha said:
Fiery Dino Piranha is very similar to its counterpart Dino Piranha, but with one scorching difference - it can spit fireballs and its tail becomes burning hot. This presents a new challenge to Mario in the Melty Molten Galaxy where he must battle to collect a Power Star. A few star spins will still defeat the beast, but not when its tail is burning!

Purple Coin said:
Purple Coins are special coins that only appear when a Purple Comet is in orbit of a galaxy. Mario must travel to each of these galaxies, collecting 100 purple coins in each one in order to reveal the Power Star that is hidden there.

Bowser Jr. said:
Bowser Jr. will stop at nothing to keep Mario from rescuing the Princess. Bowser Jr. guards three Grand Stars and also commands other bosses to attack Mario at will. Be on the lookout for Bowser Jr. in his Airship Armada, Lava Reactor, and especially when Mario nears Princess Peach!

Set Luigi Free said:
Deep in the recesses of the cosmos, Mario must free his brother Luigi. If he does, Luigi will help Mario find more Power Stars. To free him, pull Mario to the middle Pull Star, and then let him fall. Grab the key and grasp the Pull Star again so Mario doesn't fall onto the spikes. Then use the key to liberate Luigi!

Test your knowledge
1. What galaxy is Mario in when he finds his brother Luigi trapped in a haunted mansion?
A) Battlerock Galaxy B) Ghostly Galaxy C) Beachbowl Galaxy

2. In what Galaxy does Mario first encounter his brother Luigi?
The Good Egg Galaxy

I hope I was able to assist you all with this project with these descriptions. If you need anything more from me, please let me know.

Thanks a lot!

(Also, I haven't forgotten about that table MK)
