How can I change my username to something besides my first and last name on YouTube? Whenever I try to change it, it links me to my Google name settings.

As far as I know (and I've tried), there's no way to change your username in YouTube (username being youtube.com/user/USERNAME). Your display name, which is your first and last name, comes from your Google settings and you have to change it there for it to be changed on YouTube.

Oh it's possible because I did it, but I can't exactly remember off-hand.....

I think you have to change it through Google+. You know that Facebook-wannabe that Google made. I think name there changes your Youtube name.

you can create a new youtube username (that links to your google plus as well) and then merge the two accounts together, that's what i did.

unless you still want a first/last type setting, in which case you change it via google plus
