she married that guy who was the son of a general. that's a long way from marrying the emperor of china (who was the old guy, remember)

if she'd married the emperor she would have just been a trophy wife, which she clearly didn't want to be and that's part of why mulan is so good

that sequel was godawful. the only thing i remember about it was mulan and the captain guy had matching yin yang necklaces or something and were fighting over something stupid, no doubt
