I would suggest Metal Mario, but he would probably crush the other character flat the second he jumped from the ropes.

Yeah, because Bowser's not made of metal.

On a side note, what would the items be? Obviously, there would be chairs, but could Mario-related items be incorporated?

The star could give you invincibility for a short time, and I guess the POW block could stun opponents for a short time, but what else?

Banana Peels the audience could throw and you could slip which gives the opponent plenty of time to attack, the audience could throw coins at you so you could buy power ups at a store (Then again wouldn't that be a little shocking if you're playing as Peach/Daisy/Rosalina?)
