haha yep ;D

Dragons: A Fantasy Made Real, River Monsters, and Python Hunters are the only good things to come directly from animal in the past decade
everything else was either good they didn't make it, or it stunk, miserably

What about The Most Extreme? I used to watch that show religously. Unless maybe that's too far back.

most extreme was pretty good too, but it was incorrect at times, but its still better than almost everything they throw out
they aired plenty of good shows, but animal planet didn't make them
the shows they make are either fake animal rescues, dogs, dogs being raised by ex cons, animals that can see ghosts, completely fake incorrect information that seems intended to make people hate snakes (giant pythons in Florida killin people my ass), or shows that glorify animal abuse

they had a show a couple years back, rattle snake round-up or some crap like that, a bunch of bollocks lies about how rattlesnakes are overpopulated and should be eradicated to preserve nature, WTF ANIMAL PLANET rattlesnake populations are at an all time low, many are (or should be) protected
they just want(ed) to cash in on the hillbillies massacring animals craze that going on past few years

The worst thing about modern Animal Planet: their motto "Surprisingly Human". I mean seriously. When I get the hunkering to watch Animal Planet, I want to see animals, not filthy humans. If I wanted to watch a show that's "Surprising Human", I would go and watch C-Span.

lol :P
I got it
animal planet seem to have chased off all of their own good shows, River Monsters left for discovery exclusive airing, python hunters got sold to OLN (that's another thing, OLN is the self proclaimed "Hillbilly network" and yet the hillbilly shows are almost all on discovery history and animal planet, where they don't belong, and OLN airs travel and nature documentaries, which discovery and animal planet used to air instead of the hillbillies killing animals shows they do now :-\)

It was around 2006 or 2008

Maybe I'm just being a conspiracy theorist, but Animal Planet didn't start making the shift until after Steve Irwin died.
