Super Paper Mario 2: Dimentio's Revenge

The story begins with a court hearing in the Underwhere being led by Queen Jaydes where Dimentio is being charged for his sins. The Queen uses her powers to look into Dimentio’s deeds to which she is shocked. She is overwhelmed by a feeling of evil from all the wicked things Dimentio did from deception to cold-blooded murder. Dimentio makes mild insults to the queen and then states that her prisons will not hold him for much longer. The queen realizes that Dimentio’s power is similar to another prisoner’s, the shadow queen. Dimentio is kept in isolation as the Jaydes tries to figure out the reasons for Dimentio’s evil so that he may be properly judged. It’s not long though before Dimentio escapes his isolation and sees other villains in the underwhere; Sir Grodus (battery eventually died), the X-Nauts, and the shroobs and their princesses.

Dimentio mentions he has big plans in mind and that if they work for him, they will all enjoy a taste of revenge. They agree and they create a distraction for the guards while Dimentio seeks into another prison that holds the Shadow Queen. Dimentio approaches what he calls “Daughter/ creation”. It turns out Dimentio created the Shadow Queen many years ago to wreak havoc on the planet earth for two reasons. To have fun and to see who would beat her on the planet to serve as the heroes for his future plans, which failed in Super Paper Mario. Dimentio then explains that is the reason for their similar powers, because she was created from his power. He forces her to combine back into him so that he may have the power to return to the land of the living. Dimentio uses these new powers to murder many of the guards and then tortures Jaydes. After torturing her into insanity, Dimentio uses his explosive attack to murder her and transfer her power into himself. With this he has complete control over the underwhere and life and death. Dimentio uses these powers to resurrect himself and escapes with Grodus, the X-Nauts, the shroob princesses, and their entire army. They all first arrive at the Koopa Kingdom where Dimentio leads a violent and devastating attack. Hundreds of koopas are murdered and slaughtered from the shroob’s army and Dimentio’s dark powers. Dimentio breaks into the castle and into Bowser’s throne room where Dimentio murders the last seven elite guards and then summons the X-Nauts to enter.

They do so and rig all the koopas with mind control devices and the castle is slowly constructed into a base of operations that is reminiscent of the X-Naut fortress. Dimentio uses his power to bring out the pure darkness in Bowser and cultivate it into an even more evil version of Bowser. In order to slowly torture Bowser for ruining his plans before, Dimentio tortures and murders his seven children in front of him and rigs Kammy Koopa for mind control. Dimentio orders Bowser to be imprisoned and takes control of Bowser’s fleet. Dimentio leads the fleet, the mind controlled Koopa army and the shroobs to parts of the Mushroom kingdom. With the shroob saucers and Bowser's fleet under Dimentio’s control, they destroy entire villages, towns, and cities, murdering thousands and millions. The attacks were the most violent and bloody the kingdom has ever seen. Many soldiers stepped into battle, but it was no use. Since Dimentio had control over life and death, he and his armies were incapable of dying. When the Mushroom City is destroyed until there is not one building left standing, Dimentio takes out none other than the Dark Prognosticus. He reveals that he wrote the dark book and then uses it's dark power to transform the destroyed city and other lands into a land of darkness where a huge fortress stands. Dimentio captures any survivors and orders their vim to be sucked out to power the shroob’ army. The bodies are then staked outside to be devoured by Dimentio’s creatures.

Dimentio next orders the shroobs to attack the seven lands that make up the Mushroom World, capture the respective rulers, and take their rods they control. They do so, turning each land into a devastated blaze and brought each ruler to Dimentio at Bowser's fortress, now fully converted into a X-Naut fortress, but with Dimentio’s face everywhere. Grodus complains about this design until Dimentio threatens to kill him. The kings are brought before him to, which Dimentio takes control of their rods and adds their power to his own. Dimentio then murders all seven kings, same way as he did to others in Super Paper Mario, and then announces his next step in his plan is to attack Toad Town. The rest of the villains question Dimentio’s goal to which he responds with one word; power. Toad Town is attacked horribly and Dimentio busts through the castle. Several guards stand in front of the princess, but Dimentio freezes them and then throws them into the wall where they shatter. Peach tries to flee, but Dimentio throws puppet strings around her and ties her up. He leaves with her from the castle and then snaps his fingers in which the castle then explodes. Dimentio orders the shroobs to capture any survivors for vim and then destroy the rest of the town.

Dimentio next sends an X-Naut to deliver a message to Mario and Luigi who are sleeping in their house. He does so and the brothers go to Bowser’s keep. They go through the fortress and see Peach dangling over an aquarium of snappers. Dimentio reveals himself and then sticks Lord Crump on them. They defeat him and Dimentio laughs and kills Crump, but not before telling him "Ciao". He then uses his powers to bring out the darkness in Mario, Luigi, and Peach, making evil twins of them like Bowser, one being Mr.L. Dimentio reveals that he needs evil versions of them for his plans and then orders them to be locked up with Bowser in a room with nails caving in. Dimentio leaves Grodus in charge of this task and the leaves for another area with the mind controlled Koopa clan and shroob army. The heroes are able to escape though, fighting many X-Nauts along the way and battle Grodus. They defeat him, but Grodus cannot be killed due to Dimentio power over life and death, leaving the heroes no choice, but to flee.

They learn that Dimentio has used his increased powers to release more of the undead from the Underwhere and is ordering them to execute the residents of the Kingdom. Many are being tortured inhumanly or are being hung. After a long journey, they save the survivors of the executions. Toad shows up and tells them that Dimentio has abducted Merlon and his family and tortured them for information on how to get to Star Haven. They told him and were taken with him. The executions were nothing but a distraction to keep the heroes busy. The heroes attack and destroy a shroob squid and take control of their saucer and use it to fly to star haven. They are too late and witness Dimentio taking the star rod and makes three wishes, to eradicate the power of wishes to which the star spirits and kids dye out, to open up the portal to the land of dream, and destroy star haven. Dimentio takes Merlon and the evil clones into the portal that leads to the dreams while the heroes fight off brainwashed koopas as the area is being torn apart by Dimentio’s last wish.

They eventually defeat them all and make their way into the portal and go through a long journey to the center of the core. All of sudden, figures wearing dark cloaks and masks appear and reveal themselves to be the loyal followers of Dimentio. Dimentio soon appears and reveals his plans and even his origin. He explains that he was born of the ancients who had a noble system that controlled the tribe and was born with the powers to flip between Dimensions and was a cousin of Merloo. His mother and father were nobles, but Dimentio was born deformed and was shown to be a bully. His mother and father knew no such place existed for him in this system, but they came up with something. They put him in a jester outfit and mask to hide his deformity and he would be the court jester.

Dimentio despised this, but learned how to control his powers and learned incredible new ones such as creating his own dimensions from his cousin Merloo. Dimentio loved the idea of creating a dimension of his own so much, that he wanted to create one to replace existence itself. Years later, Dimentio tortured and murdered his parents and then embarked on a quest to learn the dark arts. He went from Dimension to Dimension learning from the best dark masters, murdering each to make sure he had learned enough to even best them. Dimentio then gathered followers who joined him out of either fear or a lust for power. Those who wouldn't join him were killed. With them, Dimentio started a reign of terror, destroying many dimensions to test his new powers. Dimentio next started his plans to destroy all existence by creating the Dark Prognoticus. Using his knowledge of how the Chaos Heart could be created, Dimentio made a book to give instructions and wanted to put it on some fool's shoulders who would eventually be Count Bleck.

Dimentio bestowed the book on worlds and coaxed people into battle. Entire countries fell at Dimentio's actions and he eventually left it for the ancients to find, which led to the creation of the Pixls and the Pixl rebellion. Dimentio coaxed the tribe of darkness to steal the book and engaged in a battle with the ancients. Dimentio fought his cousin Merloo and had him on his knees. Merloo begged Dimentio not to kill him and that he loved him like a brother. Dimentio laughed at him, stating that love makes one weak and emotions only make you vulnerable. Dimentio told him "Ciao" and murdered him. Dimentio waited in the shadows for some fool to come along and use the book, so he can reside in the shadows where no one would suspect his plans. In the meantime, he needed to know from which world and dimension the heroes would originate from so he could use them in his future plans. He used his dark and demonic powers to create the Shadow Queen and sent her from world to world, destroying everything to see if heroes would rise up. The worlds with no heroes were obliterated into existence, but eventually Mario defeated the queen and Dimentio found the heroes. When Count Bleck embarked on the quest to destroy all life, Dimentio joined him to finish his schemes and informed Bleck where the heroes would be.

As those plans failed in Super Paper Mario, Dimentio acted on the legend on the Mushroom Kingdom. Light and darkness make up everything and come from a source of power in the dreamland. An orb of light and darkness were made to cultivate the respective elements and were hidden away in deep trials. Only the four with great abilities can accomplish these tasks, which is why Dimentio made clones of the heroes. He wanted to destroy all sources of light, such as the seven lands, and the rods, as well as gain power to build up his army. He would use the orb of darkness’ power to create an existence in his image. Mario and team worked on the trials to obtain the orb of light, while the dark clones worked on the getting the orb of darkness. Simultaneously, the both got their respective orbs, but Dimentio immediately used the orb of darkness to bring out what was inside of him; pure evil. Dimentio turned into a demon and then shaped the entire Mushroom world into a horrible place filled with death and despair. The dreamland was filled with nightmares that showed Dimentio's past deeds. The heroes used the orb of light to block out the images and return to the kingdom, now “ Kingdom D” along with Merlon who told them what they needed to do.

Dimentio sat on a throne in the fortress he constructed from Mushroom City and sent the Shroobs to attack the galaxies while he built up his power to change all existence into his image and wipe out all life. He instructs them to create orbs to hold his power and then transfer them across the universe so that his power will extend. Then he would populate the worlds by releasing the dark creatures from the Underwhere. The heroes quest would be uncover the rods from Dimentio’s minions so that they can use the orb of light to fill them with power and return parts of the land back to normal and use them to gain enough power to fight Dimentio. First the heroes, went to the underhwhere to resurrect Jaydes so that death would no longer be in Dimentio's control. They learn however that once someone is killed in the underwhere, they are blasted from existence, never to return. They travel to the overhthere where the Gramps is about to be killed. The Overthere itself was in disarray where dark clouds now resided. Standing in front of Gramps was Dimentio who was taunting him. The heroes approach him to which Dimentio seems delighted. He tells them an old friend would like to meet them and snaps his fingers. Bonechill appears and stands beside Dimentio. Dimentio brought him back to life and promised to leave the Overthere in his control under the condition that he guards one of the rods. The nimbis are being thrown into the underwhere one by one to feel the torment that Bonechill faced. Dimentio wants to murder Gramps because he's too dangerous to be left alive. Dimentio chuckles "It's time to weigh thy sins you little freak." In an instant Gramps is beheaded and Luvbi come screaming, calling Dimentio a monster. Dimentio continues to smile and states that Luvbi will join him soon enough, but first he intends to drain her energy. Bonechill faces the heroes and is defeated, his body being flung back into the Underwhere. Dimentio smiles and reveals that he's actually a clone of the real Dimentio and Dimentio is using his clone to speak from his lair. The heroes face the clone and destroy, leaving behind a rod. The use it to return peace to the Overthere and release all the captors. They save Luvbi and she is made the new queen of the underwhere and Overthere, this allows Dimentio's forces to be killed once again.

Once they did this, the heroes embarked on a journey to Dimentio's strongholds to get the remaining rods. They find how horrible a world and reality Dimentio has made with slave camps where people are forced to work twenty-hour days. Those who seemed useless are put in torture chambers. The heroes had to fight shroobs, X-Nauts, and Grodus to get them. Grodus was instructed to make an army of mechanical robots in Dimentio's image. The heroes, however, destroy much of the base and shut down the machines. They fought Grodus again in the X-Naut fortress, who falls in his aquarium, short circuits, and explodes. This opens up the tank, which releases the water throughout the lair. This shuts town the whole base, but the Koopa clan is still in Dimentio’s control as the mind control devices are influenced with his dark magic, not technology. The heroes mission took to them to many areas such as the slave camps, where their mission was to destroy them and release all the prisoners. Where the Mushroom Castle once laid is now a factory that is sending out red smoke into the air that is slowly poisoning all the residents. The heroes infiltrate this dark place and face Lord Crump, who was given another chance by Dimentio. He is defeated again and Dimentio uses his power from his lair to wipe Crump out of existence.

The heroes then went to the Shroob factory to release prisoners and destroy the orbs Dimentio instructed them to make. They finally made their way to the top of the factory where the Shroob Princesses were waiting with their army. The heroes made other plans though and stepped in with an army of toads which the shroobs took to drain their vim. All of a sudden the saucers start exploding and destroy much of the army. The toads turned out to be poison mushroom with mechanical arms and legs taken from the X-Nauts fortress when he heroes went there to liberate a rod. Together, the heroes destroy the princesses and make their way to the castle. Without the princesses to control the shroob army, the army was left powerless and unable to complete their tasks of conquering the galaxies. After getting all the rods and using them to bring back the kings and their worlds, they traveled to fortress D where the Koopa army was. The heroes use the orb of light to destroy Dimentio’s dark power in the mind control devices to return the Koopa clan back to normal. As they went through the rooms, the heroes soon realized that rooms change when they enter and reflect their greatest fears. Dimentio's loyal followers are creating these rooms, but are eventually defeated. The heroes and the now free koopas all enter the throne room where Dimentio sits on a throne with a staff. He sends his army to attack the Koopa clans while the heroes fight their evil clones and Dimentio's remaining followers.

They defeat them and use the orb to bring the dark clones back into themselves to become one again. Dimentio becomes enraged but starts telling jokes about their love and friendship for one another. Peach tells Dimentio she almost feels sorry for him because he never felt love and that it is great thing to have. Dimentio laughs at her and mentions Count Bleck, saying what a fool Bleck turned out to be because of his love. Dimentio continues, "And now the moron is dead because of that love. Love is a pathetic weakness that I have never had and will never have, which is why I shall win and rule all existence for eternity, even life and death are mine to control. Let's end this, Ciao." The heroes attempt to use the orb to bring out the light in Dimentio until they realize that there is no light in him, only pure evil. Dimentio weakens them and begins to open up a portal to the underwhere where all the dark creatures start emerging from. All seems lost when the Koopa Clan attacks the fortress with the fleet, now regained control of. Dimentio is shocked as the throne is blown up to reveal the orb of darkness. Dimentio is badly defeated, but is still unable to be killed. Mario gets an idea and throws the orbs into each other which creates a whole and complete orb, made of light and darkness. Dimentio starts expressing disbelief as the fleet continues to destroy his fortress. The orb then shoots him with a burst of energy and transforms him into a deformed child, the way he was born. Dimentio begins screaming and loses his balance on the tower. Bowser says “Ciao” to him as Dimentio falls. Before he falls though, Dimentio shoots a burst of energy which hits one of the ships in the fleet and comes crashing down to destroy the heroes. Dimentio miscalculated though and it went towards him. Dimentio states,"Well this is ironic, but also funny." He laughs a sad and demented laugh as the ship rams him and plunges him into the ground and is absorbed into the portal and back into eternal imprisonment, this time with no power to escape. All the X-Nauts, monsters, and Shroobs are then absorbed back into the underwhere as Dimentio's power was the only thing keeping them alive in the world.

The orb reverses all the damage done by Dimentio. The castle, toad town, and city are all restored with their people. Star Haven, the star spirits and kids, and the power of wishes is also restored. The orbs separate again when all is well and are stored again in the dreamland. With peace back, Bowser leaves with his army to repair his castle while Mario, Luigi, and Peach have a party with the rest of the kingdom. The last scene shows Dimentio all chained up in a cell by himself. He is still shown in his deformed state, barley living in a land made up of already death. Dimentio gasps for air, saying to himself again and again "Power, Power, Power". Dimentio has gone truly insane. His already unstable mind is gone leaving him to repeat the only thing he cared about in his life and afterlife.

Well... I'm trying to read it... Yet I skiped half of it.

The seven gaurds got killed... Then he murdered the Koopalings.

The Koopalings? NO!

It really looks longer than it actually is. It should take less than five minutes. If it's good then it should hold your attention, if it doesn't it, well I guess it's not that good then. Just try though.

I didn't read your story, but I,m pretty sure that the tl:dr post are not because of the quality of the story, but simply because the posters here have the attention span of a dead fly. But yeah, it would be definitely easier to read if you breaked it into smaller chapters.
What? No offense man, but you really need to work on your grammer. I don't understand what you're saying.

Hint to Fire Mario Bros.: Listen.

Japanese...? Is someone being a racist? Mr. Moto isn't really japanese, is he? *cough*wannabe*cough*

ontopic: If the title were to be called Dimentio's revenge, Most Mario games would have "Bowser's Revenge" at the end of the title. -_-

Yeah, but this is Dimentio's last stand and it's partially about revenge. It seems appropraite as this is his last plot. And so what if they don't name any games under the title "Bowser's revenge." Doesn't mean that a game can't be titled under that concept.

You know what, it should just be "Mr. L's Revenge", because everybody wants to see Mr. L again a lot more than Dimentio.

He's in the story and is considerably more evil. Mr. L being the central villain wouldn't work. He's not all that evil and can't be killed as it's really Luigi. Dimentio was a darker villain and people want to see him back. I bought him back with Mr.L.

You say "Mr. L can't really die", but if dimentio comes back, then he wasn't "Really dead" either, now was he? ;)

Uh, that wasn't my reasoning when I said Mr. L can't die. If Mr. L dies, then Luigi dies. That won't happen; he can die, but nintendo would never allow it to happen as Luigi is a central character like Mario.

Yes, and I know what you're saying. -_- BUT, that means you're saying he can't be the big boss, since the big boss dies, right? Well then, the big boss in SPM should be dead, too. Which in turn means he won't be in SPM2.

This is purely a fan story. There is no chance of this ever becoming a game for two reasons; way too dark, and the Mario team usually don't bring back villains other than Bowser. Also, the reason why Dimentio is able to live on is mentioned in the story. I gave a very logical situation that could explain why Dimentio could return. Villains always come back from the dead in some form; most cliche thing in any type of media. Luigi is completly different as the very fact of him dying doesn't make sense as he would not truly be evil, just under mind control or something to that extent. Fans of the series would no like the idae of killing him because he's a good guy, even Mr. L is not that bad a guy. His only purpose was to serve the count and that is all. Now that Bleck is gone, his purpose is lost and the only way of him returning would be through mind control again. That would make him a pawn and would not make a good ending to have him killed off. Even he were to dye and come back, it would make no sense for nintendo to kill off a hero that was turned villain by something else. Mr. L is a horrible villain; he's cool, but not evil enough. Dimentio makes a much better villain and no one would cripe about his death because he's the villain, which is why it's fine that he died in Super Paper Mario. Dimentio can return as villains always do as nintendo demonstrates with other villains. They just don't do it to villains such as Cackletta or Grodus because they don't want to, not because it wouldn't be plausible.

They brought back Wario... Twice.

He never actually died. Bowser did in New Mario Bros. when he fell back in the lava. He is the only major villain to come back from the dead.

No, each and every bowser is a clone of himself! Besides, that's the whole point of Dry Bowser, and Jr. reviving him!

What do the clones of Bowser have to do with anything? They were in The first Mario bros game and not the new one for the DS. Bowser did die in that game; he returned in the same game, but that doesn't change the fact that he died. This is all pointless to discuss though because it's not relevant to the topic. All I want to know is if my story is any good. I mean I know it looks long, but give me a freakin break; it's not a novel. Can someone just read the thing already and give me their opinion.

Wow, I just realized you wrote a good little novel at the beginning. I didn't entirely read the whole, thing, meh. You know, Making the X-nauts appear is like "Meh, unlikely but maybe". But, Making Shroobs appear is "No way, Jose, that ain't happening." Shroobs belong to Alphadream, and will NEVER be in ANY Paper mario game, rest assure.
