Quickie-la plays piano.Officially another art dump thread.

Quickie-la

Quickie-la the Shyguy
I don't have a piano at my home so I took the wonderful opportunity of being at a home with one to play a song I composed. Quoting myself via YouTube:
Song I wrote and played spontaneously. As a song writer, I always feel like what I do may sound like the work of another unintentionally if something is caught deep in my subconscience; if so, please let me know of the work. I'm extremely camera shy (hence the sigh) and do not deny my own mistakes.
Have a name? Comment on the vid.
My apologies for the audio quality; this was recorded with an iPhone. Didn't feel like cutting out my bitching at the end. Enjoy if you desire.

That shifting lonely road....

A pretty song though, good job :D

Re: Quickie-la plays piano. [Youtube]

I found it rather beautiful.

To me, the songs starts out with a kid, staring out the window, bored, waiting for the sun to come out between the storming clouds and rain; how they would have reveries of watching the sun break through the clouds. But then, suddenly, reality hits, and they realize that they are looking back on the past, to times that they wish they could escape to. It's like as though the present is not what they want it to be, as though better times came and gone like the passing of the wind. The song ends with the sad resolution that they will never be able to return to a time like that.

It's a great composition! I really hope it was fun writing! :)

Thank you very much.
Fi's post almost made me bawl. I'm flattered.

Very talented musician, you are. I've been playing piano for nearly 5 years now, and could probably attempt something like that.

Composing is a very hard skill.

I wrote a song for my Symphony Band that we are going to be playing in May (I'll try to get it on YT so that I can share it with you guys). It took from September till end of February. I probably spent about 8 hours a week after school on it.

Time wasn't the issue - oh no. When you write a song, you need to be able to have a melody, counter-melody, chords, phrases, style, expression, tempo, key signature, etc. You can't just randomly pick notes together on a page and then say "yeah, that's good."

I'm not discouraging you, but it's a very hard skill to do, and it takes a lot of musical understanding and theory. I'm basically just warning you that it may be more difficult than you think.

Thank you for the replies everyone.
Although I've been playing for a little less than 5 years myself, it takes quite the ear to be able to master composition, which I am far from doing.

I am currently working on a remix of the Airship theme from SMB3.

Well I wasn't talking about writing a song. I play stuff by ear anyway.

Haha, good job as always Alisha.

Good shading and the pieces are pretty unique.

Aaaaand the wip song you got there is sounding pretty interesting.

Keep up the good work, gal.

Thanks Zae.
