Z-List Internet Celebrity, proud to be an American, even prouder to be an American geek!

Bob Chipman is a guy from Massachusetts who has a lot of experience in the realms of geek culture, specifically video games, movies, and comic books, though he does have knowledge in other fields like TV shows and books. Like most Internet-goers, he started out making videos on YouTube, talking about video games in a show called "The Game Overthinker". The basic idea is that he takes stuff about video games, and goes into deep, thoughtful monologues about them, in the hopes that the gaming community also think about them. Eventually, he was picked up by ScrewAttack after winning a "My Vids Don't Suck" contest, and now most of his new episodes air there... He also started inserting pointless stories to them, probably in an attempt to make them more "fun", which seems really pointless and distracts from the original point but whatever...

He also got picked up by The Escapist (best known for such shows as Zero Punctuation and Unskippable) after making several movie reviews, and now he's the site's resident film critic. Later on, they gave him another show called "The Big Picture" where he's literally allowed to talk about ANYTHING he wants, and for that, it's probably his best show, because really, the possibilities are endless with a show like that!

He also has a side-show called "American Bob" where he talks about his opinions on American Politics, which can be a bit polarizing for some...

ANYWAY, here's a handful of videos he made that I think are his best, just to get you started!

AMERICAN BOB: Beyond Better

Like I said, a lot of the stuff he says can be polarizing, and you might find yourself disagreeing with what he says, perhaps a lot... I don't always agree with what he says either, but I do find his information and insight useful.

I also feel like posting this one video, which I really don't like, but want to talk about.

I get where Bob is coming from, but I don't like conflict, because I feel people only seem to get angry or hurt by it. I get that there's always a right answer for everyone... except with abortion, the death penalty, animal rights, and stuff that isn't as clear-cut, but than again, I guess that's why we have debates, and really, those things are more-or-less on an individual level and not a broad sense. Either way, I don't like the idea that Bob said anyone who preaches that is full of BS.

Watch the rest of his stuff, and read more stuff on his blogs here:

I've read some of his articles before. They were pretty good, but I haven't taken the time out to really dive deep into any of his work yet.

(which reminds me, I miss Extra Consideration)

Me, too. :(

I think someone here posted his "The Simpsons are Still Funny" thing.

I proceeded to post it on another forum, explaining that I've never seen anything else of his, but I still almost immediately got some really harsh comments for having the audacity to agree with a video made by him. Because if you dislike someone, all of their opinions are automatically bad, right?

Anyway, after all the nasty remarks I saw, I lost all motivation to watch or read anything else by him for fear of negative social side-effects.

Still, I agree with what he said in "The Simpsons are still funny" although the video seems to have vanished.

That's a terrible reason to avoid or distance yourself from something you like or in which you are interested.

I hate that kind of audacity. I mean, yeah, you might not agree with ALL his opinions, but that doesn't mean every single one of them are WRONG, right? Hell, the Overthinker was supposed to DISCOURAGE that kind of anti-thinking. Whatever their views one movies, video games, comics, or even politics and society, they can STILL have some insightful points to them, one way or another.
