How do I keep my replies from becoming spam on a topic?

I just joined, and I was wondering:

In order for my replies to posts, should I just continue to modify my post? Any clarification on this would be extremely helpful.

EDIT: So, like this? Do I need to say edit as a prefix to my modifications on posts as well?

What are you exactly saying? If you posted, and want to post again (if someone hasn't posted after you), you should modify your post and not double post.
