Smithsonian Video Game Voting... Thing

So the Smithsonian is going to have a public voting thing to see what games are going to be represented in this exhibit called the "Art of Videogames". Now this is great, because it shows that there are people who can accept that video games are indeed an art-form.

But they're going about it the wrong way.

The voting is going to be split into 5 separate eras, with one game representing each genre for each console. Problem is, there are only 3 candidates for each genre, and only FOUR genres for each console: Action, Adventure, Target and Combat/Strategy. That's it. No platformers, no puzzles, no RPGs, no fighting games, no simulation games, nothing but those four. And the only candidates for NES adventure games are The Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy, and Shadowgate.

Really.

What kind of video game exhibit is this? Is this the best they can come up with? Are there any people who actually know about video games that was actually involved in this? Well, lets feel free to complain about it directly to them! Here's the comments section for the voting thing:

And here's the direct e-mail address:

Try to be nice about it, though. They'll have a hard time taking us seriously if we go about this in the wrong way.
