I doubt it because of the Mario 35th Direct. I don't expect any news from Nintendo within the next 2-3 weeks at least.

I mean, the Smash department probably wouldn't be affected by it, but you could be right. (Awesome direct, definitely want 3d All Stars.)

It's not a department issue, more so spacing between big news. The Mario Direct was massive, so I'd expect a break before more big news to be announced.

Well, I think they at least would have announced an event.

I don't know much about Smash so it's possible that they could announce an in-game event, but not anything massive like a DLC reveal. That's just my opinion though.
