Música maestro :mariosnapsfingers: (band plays Don Flamenco's song).

@The Happy Mask Salesman you spoke formally. "Usted" is used to refer to someone in a formal way. Use "tú" as an informal pronoun (tú eres el feliz vendedor de máscaras. If the tu is used as a possessive pronoun, as in "esta es tu máscara" it has no accent). or "ti" after prepositions (esta bonita máscara es para ti). In some countries, "vos" is used instead of both of those and covers both fuctions but its very informal generally (and in even some countries both vos and tu/ti coexist). Butt, ustedes is used as the plural for tu and ti and vos (same for vosotros but I only hear that from like Spain and nowhere else).

Vos is more fun for me but people who have tu in their brain like it more for sure. I wish I knew Castillian Spanish. I keep forgetting Spain has a history of thousands of years. Learn Spanish if you want possibly the language with the greatest insults.

And no BLOF Español Rioplatense is the way to go.

well I actually am learning Spanish. But that wasn't me talking Marioda. That was a translator I was using to translate it from English to Spanish and I wanted to see if it would translate correctly

"Learn Spanish if you want possibly the language with the greatest insults."

Does Spanish have a word for swear words?
Wario's ass
Wario's ass
ah you mean something like the f word?
Ray Trace
Ray Trace
No, I mean like, a name for a group of swear words.

eh si, "malas palabras". I've heard like one or two old women say "palabrotas" too but but no one else uses that lolz.

Russian has мат, which basically means a category of foul language, which I think is a subset of general vulgarities.

oh btw it's easily confused with мать which means "mother", the difference in pronunciation is the "t" palatalized. To someone who speaks English, palatalization is hard to distinguish since we don't distinguish between the two.

Are you saying there's more categories for vulgar words there?

For me idk something like "mierda" is a mala palabra and something like "tonto" is... idk it has no name but I just say fea palabra and that's it.
Ray Trace

I'm not sure, all I know is that, in Russian, мат is a category of vulgarities worse than the regular swear variety. I only know the Russian stock vulgaries like...you know...cyka, blyat, or dyermo (sounds like deer moi).

I see "mierda" as similar to "merde" in that it's kinda a light swear but not really something heavy like "connards" or "conneries". What's funny is that the word "merde" is carved on a dried Chinese gourd of ours (yeah, dried gourds are common decorative pieces in Chinese homes). I think my Chinese grandfather liked the sound of it or something, probably that's why he carved it on there. I also find it amusing that the usage of "culle" is similar to "culo" lmao.

Culo is actually not a bad word in Spain but it is a bad word here. Not sure of what happened there.

Connard seems to mean pendejo which I thought was like a term for like teen/kid but with contempt (as in, he's acting like a child or has the brain of a 5 year old, or actually is a teen or a child etc who's being annoying/an asshole/stupid, but a pendejada means something plain stupid/idiotic/nonsensical), and we use it like when a grown up does something a kid or an idiot kid would do, or just when someone's being dumb, but the dictionary says it means a piece of pubic hair. Ok...

Well in French, "connard" is used the same way "bastard" or "asshole" is used. My mom uses it only when she's like extremely upset at someone.
Wario's ass

lmao connard and merde sound like fancy ass words to insult people. You'd think it's a pendejada of me to think French sounds like Spanish but elegant/more refined, because I associate French with elegant things and diplomacy and gourmet food or whatever stereotyped shit you can think of, and some words being so similar but idk sounding fancier (?).

Your mom swears in French? Meh why would I blame you when the maternal side of my family likes using the word "cazzo" instead of carajo lots of times.

Lmao, I love reading how other cultures view other cultures, even stereotypically, so it's amusing to me that you see the French language as more "refined" or something, similar to how Americans view the British English. To me, Spanish is something I associate with Mexicans; they unfortunately have it rough in the US in general...so how to put it eloquently...? But even within French, there's different accents, and I'm not even talking about the difference between Quebec and mainland France: a Parisian accent is something different than the Alsace-Lorraine accent, where that's more German influenced. "Merde" doesn't really sound pretty when it comes from the mouth of a frustrated mother though, same with "J'ne marre!" (I can't spell French, I mostly hear it, so this is what I hear)

Isn't "cazzo" Italian...?

At least you can always flip someone off in all languages
Ray Trace
Ray Trace
I think there are different ways to flip people off though. Some cultures, such as Russians, understand the bird but others such as Britain has the two fingers pointed away from you.
