I upgraded my computer to Windows 11. Was wondering why the experience for you was so bad. Maybe it's because with my computer it automatically updated it and you had to do it manually? Well, in any case, really sorry....computers can be really frustrating sometimes; I know the feeling. They can be downright infernal sometimes LOL.

Oh I'll tell you why it was awful:
FIRST - the installer would not detect the SSD I was going to be installing Windows 11 onto, despite said SSD showing up in the BIOS. I had to load the Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers onto a different flash drive and install them so the installer could actually see the SSD

SECOND - when it wanted me to connect to the internet. GUESS WHO DIDN'T HAVE DRIVERS FOR WIRELESS LAN SO SHE COULDN'T CONNECT HER LAPTOP TO THE INTERNET TO UPDATE? Once again I had to go and download the drivers onto a different flash drive so I could install them but this was absolute ass because like:
Microsoft has instructions on their website for how to do this and the first step (after getting the drivers and inserting the flash drive into the USB port) is opening up the Command Prompt. OK, so I do that and then...I can't type anything. I can open up more Command Prompts but no matter what letters I hit on the keyboard, nothing happens.

So it turns out that's a known issue with opening Command Prompt during the installer and the fix is to just alt-tab out of it and then alt-tab back into it. OK so that fixes it and I enter in the commands to install the drivers from the flash drive and it says they're installed but still don't have WiFi. No wireless internet connections are showing up.

I do some more searching and find a video with the solution to this issue and I seriously still cannot believe that I had to do this to get this working.

I had to open up Command Prompt, again, and then open up the goddamn Task Manager using cmd and then right-click explorer.exe (which required me to connect a mouse since I didn't have touchpad drivers either, I know I could navigate just with the keyboard but it was easier for me to use a mouse) and open the file location, which opened up Windows Explorer. This allowed me to then navigate to devices and drives where I could then open up and browse the contents of the flash drive that had the drivers for my wireless networking on it and manually install the goddamn drivers so I could connect to the goddamn Internet and continue installing this goddamn operating system.

Oh my God....all that would piss me off too LOL. I mean, I've gotten mad at and cursed at my computer before, which I'm assuming you also must have done. Like I said, computers just really SUCK sometimes. I do admit that when they don't do what I want, they make me angrier than anything. Anyway, yeah, as another human being who owns a computer I can totally relate. Seriously would be nice if they always worked the way we wanted them to.

And I can only imagine how awful it would have been if I weren't good with computers.

Aw, yeah. I have to go now, but anyway, it was nice talking about our shared frustrations with computers.

Transitioning from Windows 10 to Windows 11 gave me little issues. Maybe installing the OS itself on brand new computer was the issue. Huh.

Yeah I probably could have avoided this had I just refreshed the Windows 11 install that came on the 512 GB SSD, but I wanted it on my bigger SSD so I had to install it completely fresh and brand new.

my laptop came preinstalled with Windows 11 lol so I might have an unfair bias toward it
