Hard to say. I liked both. Subspace Emissary, I found pretty fun, despite the generic enemies. World of Light is also fun, but I wish it had more to do than just fighting.
I honestly wish they would have just expanded on Melee's Adventure Mode in Ultimate, and included side-scrolling levels...
Yeah, I've been playing the series since the very first one in 1999. After seeing that commercial, I begged my mom to go out and rent me the game (this was before I got to own a lot of games).
Kind of like how every Sonic game has a Green Hill Zone now? I don't mind that, since they usually tend to have their own twist in each game anyway. I do on the Koopaling fights though. I would like to see more boss fights than just them, Bowser and Bowser Jr.. Bring back the likes of Petey...
I don't think they should change the gameplay. Why change something that works and is the tried and true formula? I'm all for some changes, but I would rather they not change the core gameplay.
They could, but I don't know what difference it'll make. The 2D Mario formula has pretty much been perfected at the point. I think that's the main reason the games have that "samey" feeling. Kind of like the Kirby games we get now.
Well, the main problem people seemed to have with the games were that they were all too closely released to each other. It wasn't until the announcement of NSMB2 and NMSBU being released in the same year that the series got the reputation for being "lazy".
