Outside of edutainment crap on the PC, the GBA was my first gaming system. At like 6 or 7 I begged my mom for one after seeing SpongeBob SquarePants: Supersponge in one of her store catalogs. For a while we were constantly buying Hi-C juice hoping to win one, since a promotion was going at the...
i agree with almost everything you listed but this one i'm not so sure how it would work seamlessly, since levels are inherently designed as standalone experiences first and foremost, and since you can switch between all the themes between super world levels. unless all the styles are made...
i feel like they should make water/lava a toggle you can use on any theme. always felt like something that you should be as free to use as any other course element, and instead of tying certain mechanics to certain themes let us choose the theme for aesthetic reasons and use whatever mechanics...
yeah gonna be honest, this was probably the most disappointing direct in quite a while for me. there's a healthy list of mario stuff i felt like should be coming any day now, and this direct was also after an unusually long wait since the last general one. i was pretty confident my list of hopes...
i like the Brooklyn stuff (ie Mario and Luigi are from real-world Brooklyn and find a pipe that teleports them to the Mushroom Kingdom's dimension), but i'm not fond of real world settings just showing up for the sake of it, especially when it's not even explicitly framed as being in another...
it would be wild if they did several new themes and Mario Wonder was not one of them. As much as i'd like say, a NSMBDS theme, imo it would offer less in terms of fresh content than Wonder.
That said, i still feel compelled to share my crazy concept that i cooked up back in SMM2's prerelease...
drives him crazy with how many people ship him with her
fun fact about this song, as a kid i thought the brave little toaster invented it, so when i heard it in the background in short circuit 2 i thought it was a brave little toaster reference (ironically those two movies were only a year apart)
i will say i miss the volcano theme from NSMBDS. I prefer it over Wii's so it's kind of disappointing that while that one went on to become a staple, DS's was left in obscurity.
i think this was the first game i played that had toadsworth in it, funny how that turned out to be one of his most random appearances. i remember putting my super mario advance 2 cartridge in the gba slot that came in ds game boxes for some reason, and trying to make a custom corner image to...
i feel like ds's models in terms of quality were about as much as you could expect from a ds racing game where you also had a whole track and 7 other racers with karts potentially being rendered at the same time. some of the proportions could have used some work though. i think there's a charm...
I mean Smash makes sense as an exception so it's weird that that's the one they feel the need to explain, when the times it's happened in 100% Marioverse-set games raise more confusion imo.
he specifically cited smash bros as *the* exception though. MK8 is a pretty clear example of them doing that in a major way, in a non-crossover series, and in a way that's more prominent than just a little cameo like the ones in SMRPG.
i feel like smash bros. didn't need to be explained, it's...
