  • It's really odd why Smash Bros. gets almost no merch despite it being a very successful franchise. Amiibo has shown that merchandising the series is a profitable venture. Just imagine Smash Bros. themed Monopoly, Smash Bros. diorama merch, Master Hand plushies, Smash Bros articulate action figures that can equip Beam Swords and Motion Sensor Bombs.
Even though I said that I am indifferent towards Mario, I just want you to know that I don't hate him at all. I very rarely choose him as a CPU opponent in the Mario Party games, and if I was allowed to choose the CPU characters in Mario Kart, I would never put Mario on Lord Bowser's team. I would only put characters that I dislike on the opposing team, and Mario is not one of them.

Well do you at least think Mario and Peach are cute together? I think so. I mean look at this picture. They're both making flower headdresses. It's not every day they're doing something like this together and it makes me happy.

Yeah, they are pretty cute together and I do sometimes put them on the same team in games like Super Mario Party and Mario Tennis Aces. I like this picture of the two of them together:

I like Dr. Mario being with Dr. Peach. Dr. Peach is indeed Dr. Mario's beloved companion. I like Mareach alot. I am indifferent to a lot of characters.
If you think Mario Kart Tour's subscription is horrid, Animal Crossing Pocket Camp's offerings are even worse.

Seriously though, screw subscriptions. Have to make monthly micropayments for Nintendo Switch Online, then for Mario Kart Tour, then for Animal Crossing, then for Pokemon Bank; all of this nonsense adds up.
My sister and I can become homeless if the FTC finds our one video where Wario scares the hell out of Mario and Baby Luigi "content made for kids" (it is not) and then subsequently fines us $40 k.

All this, it's about imposing control over content and stifling creators so only the biggest and ones with resources remain. Of course YouTube is going to try pushing responsibility to people like you and me rather than stop surveillance on everyone. Of course they're going to use beyond broken bots that always bring out false positives that have you lose a ton of money. Of course the FTC is pushing these horribly vague definitions of "child-attractive" whose net is so broad it can ensnare pretty much any creator.

    Well, I left a comment

I am a YouTube content creator and have recently been concerned about the news covering COPPA. While I do understand the necessity to protect children, the rules outlined on what constitutes children's content is vague enough to encompass too much content in YouTube. My content in particular may be affected by it since it concerns animation but my content is nevertheless aimed at a general audience that includes adults while remaining appropriate for kids to enjoy. I want to continue entertaining the general audience rather than produce more mature content for the sake of retaining ad revenue.

The suggestions to extend guidelines to "child-attractive" are too vague to actually protect children while it can and will confuse and hurt content creators, and I do not believe it is any way appropriate to enforce, especially when how it is enforced is also unclear. Finally, parents should be encouraged to use YouTube Kids and be educated on options how to protect kids rather than leave content creators to their whims. Content creators have no data on who watches their videos and should not be subjected to this regulation either.

Anyway, after thinking about this for a while, I don't think the FTC will go after me. They'd probably go after more deceptive and bigger channels. I'm still worried for YouTube's awful algorithms.
By allowing Toads to bud freely, the West has de facto entered into a fungiarchy that disincentivizes young Koopas.
People cite candy corn as a form of culinary crime but I find both red and black liquorice to be even worse. It's like eating a sticky funny-tasting coated wax, not even that sweet.

Normally I don't like Mario and drugs joke but this headline + image combination is just hilariously asking for context removal, didn't even believe it, thought it was some miscaptioned image

    Luigi's Mansion spoilers
Mario has apparently left a sword in his toilet and he also somehow packed a floor gem in his suitcase. He also has slippers in his room and that's cute but his room is long looted by Luigi.

Also those Luigi posters are hilarious to us. Every time we see it, we go, "Have you seen this man!?" As if Luigi is a lost person. It's kinda like how we called those Bowser posters in Odyssey Trump campaign posters.
Modding in Musician Mario into Mario Kart 8 Deluxe feels glorious. Thanks Nintendo.

I really don't have room to put other Marios. I like Tanooki Mario and Metal Mario too much. Other characters don't fit Mario, and the closest character to Mario's build would be Yoshi, though I plan on replacing that with Rayman. Even if Mario can replace em without animation problems and without replacing characters I already like (Toad, Luigi, Dry Bones), a lot of characters are too hilarious and great to replace (Daisy, Toadette, Baby Peach, Baby Daisy, Rosalina) and several have to be funny Blue Team fodder (Wario, Donkey Kong, Waluigi). Dry Bowser is funny as well as Shy Guy but probably not must haves like the aforementioned. Cat Peach we are also planning on replacing too, not going to be a Mario, though.

My sister has already replaced Lemmy, Larry, Bowser Jr. (Had no choice), Baby Rosalina, Lakitu, Isabelle. Koopa is also replaced in favor of Kirby. Roy was nixed for Mr. Krabs and Morton was removed for Homer Simpson.

But on a good note, I *did* replace male Villager with Paper Mario.

Oh yeah, sis, few things are better than Mario in a fedora causing Homer to yell like a girl.

@winstein I thank Nintendo for the model they made for Mario Kart Tour. It seemed to be low poly enough to comfortably fit in the range of Mario Kart 8 Mario's polycount.

I attempted some sarcasm, though, since I find Mario Kart Tour to be ethically objectionable as well as Nintendo's documented hostility to modding games.
    Possible Mystery Dungeon spoilers?

Unpopular brain nugget: I think Grovyle from Pokemon Explorers of Time and Darkness had a counterproductive plan hat endangered the world with his disguise act, and to be honest, I felt no regrets or sadness when his fate eventually befell it as much as that game wanted me to feel something. Maybe I'm cold as a time-frozen rock, but I really didn't care for the ending as others did.

I have to say, I'm not impressed at the story of any of these games. First one was fairly simple and sweet, but didn't like the ending where the playable human just willingly sacrifices past memories prior to turning into a Pokémon to "purify" the heart (from recent reviewing of plot) Super's story, on the other hand, just had too much going on: I didn't like the Tree of Life, the Darkness as a character, and I didn't like that they, again, put the world at stake.
How was Wario able to build his own stadium in Baseball Kingdom when it's clearly owned by Peach? How did he get the contract, who let him build it? Is Baseball Kingdom a sovereign country even?

The Baseball Kingdom is corrupt and will do anything for money.

Hmm, any confirmation that the building in Wario's City is a casino? It would make a lot of sense since it'll provide good revenue for the kingdom.

I'm betting Baseball Kingdom is a corporate tax haven.

According to the card, it "boasts the liveliest nightlife of all the stadiums in Baseball Kingdom". There may be profit to gain from that depending on how popular the kingdom is.
I looked up reasons people hate Mario and the reasons almost mirror word-to-word the most common and lazy "jokes" about Mario. i.e. "he promotes drug abuse", "he abuses animals", "he chases women without being interested in them". Oh, and mixed in with fat shaming and maybe moaning about his annoying voice and stereotypical accent? So I'm glad I'm not in good company.

I agree that Mario being the way he is is the reason I like him. I mean, most of the time human mascots have an idealised image. Mario doesn't really fit that mould of one but the fact that he's super popular and one of the most enduring characters is a huge blessing. I think Mario goes hand-in-hand with video games mainly because his design have its roots in video games, making him pretty unique compared to many characters.

    Thank you for reading.

I've seen people hate him for being a "lazy hero that can't protect his girlfriend whenever she needs protection". Like really, it's not his fault at all that Peach gets kidnapped. He has a life you know so he can't be realistically with her all the time. Mario is still the king of video games no matter how much people like other characters other than him. He's the Mickey Mouse of games as Miyamoto said. I mean yeah some people say Pac-Man is the king first but Mario has more games than Pacman post crash so he is the king of games. I am honestly neutral with him.

The follow-up question is: why doesn't King Boo target Luigi first? Why is Mario is the primary captive of desire rather than the one who thwarted him?

    Thank you for reading.

I thought it was that King Boo did want both, but Mario arrived first way before Luigi since Luigi got lost in the woods. So King Boo just grabbed Mario and then waited for Luigi but E Gadd thwarted the initial capture and Luigi escaped.
