For me this has only ever happened once, Perilous Passage Which tracks, such is the nature of an optional secret level that requires demonstrating active game mastery to even unlock. Yeah no, its not a pleasant time, managing autoscroller plus player seeking enemies that cannot be defeated plus movement mostly using trampolines. There are too many balls in the air, and without knowing how to juggle they mostly just come back down on the player's head.
This is precisely the problem Super Guide sought to fix. If the player is shown a step by step way around the wall, then its less of a wall and more of a path with many traps and dead ends to worry about. Of course, Nintnedo stopped adding Super Guide to games, so there is a point of evidence that it isn't a good feature but at the very least its inclusion in DKCR3D prevented Perilous Passage from being agitating. Only slightly embarrassing because there's a certain amount of pride in it for me in not having to use features that the public perceives as only being for inexperienced players.
