Yeah I already knew that. In Japan there actually WAS a Super Mario Bros. 2 (which was a totally new game), but for the United States consumers, they were lazy, and decided to "Marioize" (Is that even a word? I just made it up) Doki Doki Panic, replacing the Arabian characters in Doki Doki Panic with the Mario ones, and the enemies they had for the game became standard Mario enemies in all the games even though they weren't originally part of the franchise. Gee....how lame. I remember though that you could on the Wii on the Virtual Console play the Japan version of Super Mario Bros. 2-you could buy it using Wii Points. Personally I think the US version of Super Mario Bros. 2 is crap compared to the Japanese one, especially with that dumb mechanic of you throwing vegetables around. Like, it's the only game out of the original trilogy of Mario games I think is bad.
the japanese mario 2 sucks ass fam. plus there is the whole 'doki doki panic began as a mario-style tech demo before they got the licensing deal with fuji TV' thing so i'd rather have an actual fun and unique game than 'yeah it's just mario 1 again but uhh it's bullshit and difficult and unfun'.
@Princess Viola Oh my God LOL. Ironically, I watched a full playthrough of Mario Bros. 2 (the American version) and there were parts in there that could be ragey too. Like when you had to get those keys, and those evil mask face things that everyone seems to hate were chasing you.
