    How in the heck do you beat Mecha-Marathon in Mini-Game Coaster in Mario Party 2

    I can barely get 20 yards. How do I beat it successfully? I button mash the heck out of the A+B buttons. I do this on the GmaeStop refurbished GameCube controller.
