why are sock talk pages deleted? some of them have content on them.

Saves space: there's little use in keeping hundreds of talk pages for short-lived spam/sock accounts.

Since that thread I made was locked I'll just ask here:
are patrollers being able to hide revisions a new feature, or has it been there from the start?
