UnMarioWiki. It's a thing.

There isn't one Galaxy in the universe, there's an incredibly huge, nearly endless number of galaxies. What are you going to to about those?

never said there was only one Galaxy, I'm not that stupid

other galaxies hold other places, like our real life Galaxy for one, it would just be focused around the Internet Galaxy

other galaxies wouldn't really be the focus, unless you wanted some sort of fiction based outside of the Galaxy, like a bunch of users go to the real world (which that actually happened in a few comics once or twice

there'd be planets for each website, and systems for each type of site

something along those lines if you get me

we should all do that for our fanon, some sort of space age

it could be like Star Wars or Star Trek or stargate or battlestar galactaca

something with star in it
Battlestar Wars 1: Gate Trek - wherein the wiki develops interdimentional travel and gets involved in an interstellar Internet flame war
Battlestar Wars 2: Cowboy Babylon - wherein the wiki searches for a fabled colony of advanced coding as the war heats up for the NIWA Alliance
Battlestar Wars 3: Andromeda Hunter - wherein the wiki's lone cascade-class battleship leads a last, desperate push against the trolls
Battlestar Wars 0: Firefly Who - a prequel about the troll invasion that pushed the wiki to not only fight back, but follow them into space for revenge
Battlestar Wars ∞: Gurrenscape - a sequel to the original trilogy about the wiki's role in the new struggle against the corrupt Wikian Empire

Hmmm, I think stars could be the servers while websites that are dependent on the said server are the planets. But I don't know exactly what would natural satellites be. Or asteroids. Asteroids are probably the result of a failed website that didn't get together, or something.

Though I'm completely ignoring rogue planets, brown dwarfs, stars that consumed their planets, nebulas, and whatnot. The server shutting down will results in all websites it hosts taken down, but it could eject some planets out of there and find another host star.

And I wonder what blackholes would be.

What kind of galaxy would the internet galaxy be? I was thinking spiral because spirals are the most interesting type of galaxy to look at. And besides, a theory of how arms are still there are similar to a traffic jam so maybe those are the high traffic websites are where you can see the spiral arms.

I love talking about this. I really do.

it was fun and stuff

i'd consider it is a dwarf planet of sorts in the NIWA wiki solar system..

actually no, i'd consider it a dwarf planet in the "lulz" wiki solar system..
hmm

you know what fuck the whole "internet is one planet" thing

I like your idea better, space is huge, which makes way for more websites

on a scale to one to ten, how accurate is this?

sun: NIWA
mercury: zelda wiki
venus: strategy wiki
earth: mario wiki (the moon: userpedia
mars: f-zero wiki
ceres: pikmin wiki
jupiter: bulbapedia
saturn: wikirby
neptune: metroid wiki
uranus: Nwiki
pluto: pikmin fanon wiki
hailey's comet: the ledgendary starfy wiki

Pretty accurate, though I think Bulbapedia should be Mars.

Don't forget DK Wiki or Smash Wiki.

And what would the Galilean moons, Titan, Triton, the Asteroid belt, Uranus's moons, Mar's moons, Charon, Eris, and others be?

bulbapedia is jupiter because it's not just a wiki, it's part of a much larger bulbagarden!

dunno probably the other wikis and fourms

maybe the asteroids are site breaking viruses

if they impact the planet (or website), it causes an apocalyptic event which wipes the planet clean

also the stars being servers thing works better, since there's probably a lot more systems than there are types of websites

and independent websites could be the only planet orbiting that star

i think maybe the galaxy is split into sections, where the types of websites would be located, and you just have this massive conglomerate of systems in one area with shopping and auction sites

i like this idea

so if the sun goes supernova, it manages to blast certain planets away or something like that?

Baby Luigi said:

don't know about black holes, but certain worm holes could lead you to the deep web

perhaps the deep web is the center of the galaxy or something

maybe black holes are the types of websites that harbor viruses, and they crash your computer?

Spiral galaxy seems good

if it's a specific galaxy, then i'd recommend Sombrero Galaxy. it's a spiral galaxy, and it also references a long running meme on the wiki (the sombrero)

would be pretty sweet

if not, then having a fake galaxy works too, as it opens it up to more possibilities and is not confined in regards to space

yeah, it's fun to come up with these kind of ideas

you get to be really creative, and it opens it up for loads of story projects

it might fit better in a mindless junk thread or something

just saying, since you're pretty far off topic
shit

forgot this wasn't mindless junk, sorry about that

are we able to move the offtopic parts to another thread? or should we just create a new thread in mindless junk?

i forgot how these things go :S

It should be moved: starting again with a mess of quotes from this thread or something would be silly, and how much on-topic stuff can really be said about UnMarioWiki anyway?

there's some, at least! like that historical account i didn't finish, but will now continue

SO. About 2008 or so, when Scribblewiki died, at least one person of UnMario staff (I wanna say Plumber?) got the impression that UnMario would be used as a new UP site backup or something. This required deleting everything on the site to make room for it! During this time, I asked for and received staff position, in order to help with the process. Then it turned out we didn't actually need to delete everything! ...I learned this when there were like four articles left on the site. Oops

Anyhow, UnMario had just been heavily wiped, I had crat and sysop powers, and most of the people on it had just ditched it. By the fact of nobody else being around who was stupid enough to take responsibility, yours truly ended up in charge of UnMario! This got awkward at several points, like the time we had a user who showed up as a troll for a long time before reforming and somehow getting sysop and crat out of it (and then going BACK to causing trouble, we were great judges of character), or the fact that we got in multiple scuffles with MarioWiki people (like SMB and Stooben), or the fact that we couldn't remove crat powers, so all these crats that went inactive I had to appeal to our Wikia rep to remove. Among my many dumb things was being way too generous with crat power.

Then again, a lot of my writing was stupid, because A: i was trying to apply a consistent canon (i think) to a collative writing project written by a bunch of teenagers, and it was a stupid canon, so it was doooomed, and B: I had a horrible habit of "thing slightly interests me! LET'S ADD IT" Didn't help that a lot of my writing just... wasn't funny. Also I used way more political humor than I really should've, for some reason? Whateeevs

So for a few years, I trundled along, slowly fading from Userpedia and Mariowiki as I continued to become in charge of UnMario. This included really, really slow writing of our parody newspaper (to the point the final, unfinished issue was nearly all PLACEHOLDER), continued peacekeeping, and in one case a stub purge. Which I thought would be great to quote a song's lyrics in the deletion logs of, because ???

Anyhow, nothing really big happened to kick me off UnMario. As I got older and got back into these communities, as well as began creatively writing elsewhere, I just slowly lost interest over time. I went from multiple daily checkins to a few times a week, then a few times a month, and at some point I just decided "nah I'm done". From nobody to leader to retired in six years, it was a wild ride.

...there, now we can move it

Honestly. I'm more curious about how scriblewiki userpedia was like before being deleted.

honestly its probably more or less the same as adriels userpedia was when it came out

difference being the general user was a lot more kiddie back then

And it was considerably more active

Now you're lucky to see a user go there and update their comic or story once in a while

Also, back in the day, sprite comics were the main form of userfics, whereas now they're mostly prose writing, with a few hand/computer-drawn things, and only a couple sprite comics (last I checked).

I love UnMarioWiki... Time to vandalize. :bowser: :bowser: : :bowser:
