And this is why Mario largely never cares about continuity.

The only thing that bothers me here is that all the Paper Mario games are dreams. Then again, they're all part of a book in the video I posted too.

I wonder why that is, is it really that hard to try and fit them into the actual timeline?
 
I think it makes sense to put them into an extra timeline because they don't really share much similarities with main series mario games except for some obligatory stuff

see it like majora's mask: uses stuff from oot, however has its entirely own continuity
 
I like how NSLU and DrL are Luigi's eternal dream and Dr. Mario is alternate Baby Mario (aside from the time paradox stuff; I have problems with change-the-past time travel in general because it just breaks down to me, logically), but a lot of other things are really arbitrary (why are the classic and new SMB sidescrollers separated, etc.) - a similar problem to the video.
