The Mario Timeline

Yeah, it'd actually be kinda be perfectly in character for Bowser to kidnap Peach every week. Besides, the vast majority of Mario games are spin-offs that don't involve kidnapping at all: there's only 15 non-remake Super Mario titles (not including SMB2 and BSSMUSA), 9 RPGs, and a handful of random one-offs and games with Bowser bothering people other than Peach. So, even at once a month, you can still get the entire series done in under three years (with all the spinoffs coming between the srsbsns adventures).

Update: Got 2 Warp Whistles. Warped to World 8. Proceeding in Doomship Knockdown.

Reminder: I'm not trying to 100% these. I'm trying to beat Bowser. Thus, I can do whatever necessary to get there, as long as I don't use a consolation item (like Super Guide, White Tannoki Suit, etc.). I can use warp zones and whistles, however.

ok

also id probably make a separate thread for this as this thread is about the mario timeline not your ultimate mario speedrun

fan creations would be a good place to put it

Didn't see this before updating...
I'll go put it there.

I actually watched the timeline elsewhere. I don't like the end.

I don't know......it started out reasonable but then it went into wild mass guessing territory. Needlessly putting games in a very different order than the actual release order. Lemmy's Land had a similar one which made the radical assumption that Bowser Jr. and Ludwig were one and the same. All it took was New Super Mario Bros. Wii to flush that whole thing down the toilet.

The Yoshi stuff is pretty much correct, though. YI, YNI, and YIDS in that order all star the original Yoshi, who is not the same one as the current appearances. The Star we know as Yoshi was born at the end of YIDS and then stars in YS.

The past events of M&L:PIT could actually go either before or after YIDS. I prefer to place it before because of the release date and Baby Bowser's line about his older self not recognizing him. Either way, I go by release date in my headcanon unless otherwise noted. I'll post what I think would be a more plausible timeline soon.

Release date means nothing when it comes to timelines.

The Zelda Timeline puts the Zelda 1 and 2 near the end.

Metroid timeline has metroid fusion at the end, which is (along with metroid prime) the fourth game out of 8.

I just now realized that since the release order=/=the timeline, we could yet still see "dead" villains again in the future. It would simply need to be set before their death.

You're thinking of Fawful, aren't you?

Also, just because MKDS has a poltergust 4000 doesn't mean it can't be in the spinoff section.

Its not going to happen.

He's thinking of many characters, most of them are dead and will most likely stay dead.

Yes, I'm aware of how the Metroid and Zelda timelines work. My reasoning is that it should more or less echo the release order unless otherwise noted. I apologize in advance for the crudity of this list. Spin-offs aren't included in this list, because it'd be WAY too big. I left out DK and Wario stuff that doesn't involve other core cast members as well. The DIC Cartoons are a separate timeline entirely. Far too many things are different for them to match up with the games in any conceivable way. The same applies to the movie and The Saturday Supercade, both separate.

That was exhausting. Let me know if I missed any you feel should be on here. Also, if you find anything in this timeline that doesn't work, do speak up. I have not yet played every game on this list.

This actually makes more sense to me because in Luigi's Mansion the fortune teller was referring to Bowser as dead (which she appearently thought him to be), and we already know that paper mario and luigi's mansion are referencing each other.

There is no after-credits scene or anything shown with Bowser in the end of Paper Mario, implying he did not show up for quite some time (which could've led to people thinking he was dead), and it even makes sense chronologically.

Yeah, looking pretty angry too.

I'm not sure about the character parades present in SMRPG:LOTSS, PM, and PM:SS. They're more likely just representations of the characters in the game rather than the actual characters themselves. We also have Smithy Gang members present in the former of those endings.

Now that I think about it, it could just be like the equivalent of a cast of a play taking a final bow after the play is over.
