I never realized that the original Super Mario Bros takes place over three days.

The idiot who puts things in the wrong board.
I was playing through it earlier and its a rather neat detail. The worlds themselves change between night and day in a very specific fashion over the course of the game, as detailed below.

World 1:Morning
World 2:Afternoon
World 3:Night
World 4:Morning
World 5:Afternoon
World 6:Night
World 7:Morning
World 8:Afternoon

I'm guessing the third night is where they celebrate Mario's defeat of Bowser.

Its pretty cool, and it means there are at least 2 famous Nintendo games that take place over the course of 3 days.

Yeah, I just noticed that too. Though I'm wondering now that one of the levels in the sixth world apparently might have snow since the platforms are white instead of green.

Maybe. Hard to say with technical limitations of the time.

I would like to assume it was snow.

The other one being Majora's Mask right?

That would be correct.

There are probably others but those 2 are the ones that I can think of.

How do you know Mario isn't traveling so far he circumnavigates the world

If you use Warp Zones, it's only 1 day.

Both World 1 and World 4 are morning.

So half of World 1 and half of World 4 is one morning.

World 8 takes place in the afternoon.

No night levels are encountered.

What if Mushroom Kingdom = Pangaea?

I doubt that. Amusing theory though.
