Torchic because it was one of my first starters so therefore my absolute favorite

Going with Treeko. Sceptile is my favorite final evolution for the starters of Gen 3.

I'm choosing Treeko. I haven't got one in any game, and grass has the most weaknesses, so I'm adding to the difficulty.

No Mudkip love? :(

Thats because Mudkip is the worst choice for starter Pokemon in the Hoenn region if you want to play to win.

Who the ---- plays Pokemon in-game to win?

Are any of the starters even viable in competitive play...?

...
You can't be serious.
SURELY, you are trolling me.
Beating the game is easy enough no matter what you choose.
And...seriously...How would Mudkip be the hardest starter to go with?

Because the water Pokemon Niche for a Pokemon team has a lot of worthwile contenders like Gyarados and Lombre.

Blaziken lol

Swampert was good, but Gastrodon outclasses it

Sceptile isn't a bad Pokemon either

You still haven't said why Mudkip is supposedly this steaming pile of *bleep*.

Although I guess Mudkip isn't quite as bad when you are playing Ruby.
...How is Mudkip different in Ruby than in Sapphire or Emerald?

Because Seadot and Water beats Ground.
Personally, I'd say if you want an easy time beating the game, pick Treecko.

...Oooook.
So, if you're judging this based on type effectiveness...This still doesn't explain why Mudkip would be the worst.
