Why can't we let the Wii U run first before mkaing another one.
 
The article just says working on ideas, I'm sure this isn't a new thing. Of course they'd start working on finding new ideas early, I doubt the process is a short one.

I'll make a prediction for E3 2017.

no new Mario games this year

I'm 99% sure they're talking about Mario platformers since they still have unreleased Mario games for this year (Mario Party 10, Mario Maker, Mario vs Donkey Kong). Thank goodness I have enough of Mario platformers and platformers in general.

it's probably a better idea to have a nintendo direct thread, since this thread can be used for ANYTHING nintendo-related, which isn't limited to nintendo directs and game announcements

look it's been two months since the last one, so a new direct is almost guaranteed this month. so sorry for sharing my disappointment about nintendo news in a nintendo news thread.

maybe I should make a direct thread when the next one is announced, kinda odd how we don't have one already

I thought I mentioned that somewhere before, but eh. This is the appropriate thread anyway.

I am actually quite pleased by this. It means that the developers are spending more time on the next game, and thus we will likely get a better game.

if it was, then i'm too lazy to look for it, so whatever

i don't want developers spending time on another mario platformer. we already have nsmbu and 3d world. i want the other mario genres be explored like mario sports or other nintendo series that need games

If we get another Mario Hoops sequel, it needs to have more characters and courts. Mario Sports Mix was decent, but it felt a bit empty compared to its predecessor.

I'm down for Air Ride 2, though!

Yes please! I (as in Meta Knight) can drive. Too bad the anime isn't canon. But still, a new Kirby Air Ride game would make me happy.

Eh, what?

Mario Sports Mix has more modes and it has a better tournament mode (Behemoth is always fun to fight against). It also has Party games, those which are fun too. I feel the gameplay is more refined, with all characters having unique animations and ways to attack and all, than in Hoops.

I should have stated that better. The game was great in the modes department, but it felt like it could have done more with the rosters and other aspects. I didn't really play it that much compared to other games, so my opinion might change if I ever feel like going back to it.

i looked at the full interview and they said they talked to him 'just before the 2014 Christmas break' so it could be possible that by 'this year' he meant 2014 (although it still would've only been related to non-spinoffs since mk8 released last year). i'm not necessarily saying they're releasing another mario but if they announce one at e3 for release by holidays like they did with 3d world in 2013 then i won't be totally surprised
im not really expecting them to do that but i'm also not gonna rule out the possibility entirely because of this either
