What changes would you make?

Gumball Machine

Celestial Guide
This thread is to discuss any flaws you've noticed in games and how they could've been avoided or what the developers could've done differently to make the game better.

I'll start things off. In TTYD, I would've preferred fighting Marylin and/or Doopliss at Poshley Sanctum while Beldam escapes with the (fake) Crystal Star, rather than Smorg on the Excess Express, because for starters, where did Smorg even come from and what is he? Granted, it is implied that Smorg may have been created from the Shadow Sirens or X-Nauts, but there's no concrete evidence.

So what changes do you guys deem would've been necessary?

NeverDead! No escorts; your torn limbs acting as automated sentries; greater variety in the puzzles; more open-ended gameplay that didn't rely on constantly spawning monsters until you took down the spawner hidden in the back; a camera that re-adjusted its view when you switched between melee and guns; using a button to swing the sword rather than waggling the analog stick around like an idiot; clearer graphics and environments; better ways to die than failing to perform a quick-time event...

list goes on. I genuinely liked the idea behind the game, but the presentation was just... so... bad

To NSMB, better controls. I died so many times from a misplaced jump

Better hit detection on Drain Damge in Crash Woc. Seriously the amount of deaths I had from jumping over the energy blasts but still being killed is unbelivable. Also Crisis City in Sonic Generations needs to be a lot easier.

It's harder on purpose. Ya know, games get harder as they go on. It's a thing that happens.

I would change the item collecting parts in One Piece Unlimited Cruise. A lot of the time you need to spend tons of time searching for one item to progress. I could do without it.

In Kirby Air Ride, I would remove that stupid time limit in the Stadium, Vs. King Dedede. It took me all evening to try to defeat him and I still haven't succeeded yet because of the unreasonable time limit against a ridiculous amount of HP and defenses.

Remove or at least put it later in the game, Sling Pod Galaxy. I want to punch whoever made that level.

I wouldn't of minded if it had been the last level or something but Planet Wisp the last level of the game was very easy.

Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts 'n' Bolts. Remove the cars/boats/aeroplanes etc, make it platforming-based and change the title to Banjo-Threeie. Oh, and also make an original soundtrack to it.

We're different, Crisis City wasn't a big deal for me, I even ended up getting the secret trophy for it accidentally. But Planet Wisp was a bitch, it took super long and the place was really complicated to do.

Planet Wisp was my least favourite level though. The doppelgänger race took me too many tries.

There's a reason they let you unlock it after the game. It's called post-game occupation

Replace Krystalak and Obsidius in Godzilla Unleashed with Hedorah and Battra. We want classic monsters, not original ones made up for the game.

In Mario Kart Wii, I'd replace those bratty baby princesses with Paratroopa and Hammer Bro, and then I'd replace Funky Kong with Petey Piranha.

That's the one for avoiding the cars right? I got that one. My main problem was the tornado in the classic stage and the homing attack segments in the modern stage.

Too many to name....

I'd make some games I suck at easier, like Majora's Mask, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario 64. And a bunch of others ones I suck but won't name right now.

RPGs should only have NPCs with a purpose like giving the player items and info/advice or if they're part of a sidequest.

I'd make all the generic NPCs as great as they were in Chrono Trigger.

RPGs have a lot of NPCs because they want to drive the point home that the world you're in is a large, active place. Removing all those NPCs makes the world feel barren and empty even when it's not supposed to feel that way, and having every last NPC be of some importance just drags the game out too long.

I do, however, agree that NPCs should be more interesting and have more varied dialogue than the usual one-line spamming NPC. Especially when you're doing the Fable thing by telling you to pick a random NPC as your significant other, because without interesting dialogue, they're all going to seem the same.

Yeah, I didn't get hit, I still have yet too, but I got the rest of the achievements on my second run through each level for the S Ranks.

But now I'm off-topic. I wish pokemon's NPC's weren't so completely boring and useless. Why is there a random house on a route with people talking about veggies for dinner?

Conversation should change to fit the time period in a game
