Team Yoshi vs Team Birdo, choose Yoshi. Team DK vs Diddy, choose DK. Team Bowser vs DK, choose Bowser. And etc.

So basically if you want to win, always choose the Team that is the main hero or heroine. I imagine if there ever is Team Wario vs Team Waluigi, Team Wario will win.

I have heard horror stories where someone emptied a Spotlight pipe and didn’t get the Spotlight character.

I agree The New Super Mario Bros. trend was simply Nintendo being lazy, creating 2D (with some fake 3D) clones of the earlier NES-SNES games. The NSMB games bored me to tears.
