There's this guy in Australia that is writing a book titled That's Autism, and my story will be in it. I'm nearly done with my piece, and the book itself should be released sometime next year. I wanted to share this with you guys since I know some of you have autism as well (I was diagnosed in 2015).

Also, since this community helped me during a tough time in my life, I'm giving the MarioWiki a small shoutout in it (Steve gave me his blessing to use the website's name).

Autism is a blessing and a curse, and I think I have it.

I'm happy for you!

I got diagnosed with autism 3 years ago and ever since that some people don't want to be with me just because of that. I'm glad I could find a place where I don't have to worry about that, and I'm happy you did too. (And all of the people who have autism)

I was diagnosed with autism very early on, when I was like 2. It's helped my ability to be perceptive. I just don't like when people who claim they have "better social skills" are constantly hypocritical and warn how dangerous it is to be overly nice to a "popular jerk" while talking to that same person too much.

Autism can be a blessing for some and a curse for others. I can relate to this, as I have had it ever since I was one. But you shouldn't threaten people just because they have it. That's not nice at all.

Used to take meds to help, now I'm taking some herbal stuff.
TBH, I'm not a doctor, but unless the herbal stuff is prescribed, I think you should still be taking meds as directed from a psychiatrist and take herbs only if it makes you feel comfortable and knowing that alternative medicine isn't a replacement for the meds.

Well, we tried meds, but it made me more depressed, and also kept me from getting hungry, so yeaaaaaaa...

Did the psychiatrist reevaluate that and then change the drugs? There's a lot of kinds of drugs and different doses. It reminds me of adhd meds that remove your appetite and make you "buzzed" though you can take Ritalin, Concerta, Metadate, Adderall, and so on, and they all can very in your responses to them.

Thanks everyone! :)

By the way, if anyone is interested in my piece or is willing to give me feedback, feel free to message me for it. I'd greatly appreciate it.

I hate it when someone does something dumb and other people call that someone autistic. Autistic means someone has social issues not being stupid. What angers me the most is someone wrote a book about how the main character wishes that their autistic brother was dead. The funniest thing about this Autistic means stupid is during 8th-grade kids were calling everyone autistic but at the end of the school year the only autistic kid (me) did not get summer school.(I went to alternative school it was small)

(sorry for off topic comment but)

god i have adhd and autism and my mom wants me to take meds for my adhd because "therapy can't cure it but pills will"

i'm very scared at most of the adhd meds because most are highly addictive uppers and they can alter your personality

anyway I'm glad the MarioWiki was able to support you! i know for people getting diagnosed can be very life changing in both good and bad ways

and i'm quite interested to read your book! please tell us when it's finished~

Nothing *cures* ADHD or autism. Those two disorders can only be managed. What meds do is stimulate parts of the brain where it lags in producing certain chemicals that are responsible for executive functions. Also, adhd meds are not normally highly addictive. I don't know if they have addictive qualities but they're not dangerously addictive. I find caffeine more addictive. Also while adhd meds can change your mood, that's probably just the wrong med and/or wrong dose.

And consider being the costs without treatment. ADHD is pretty costly to have. You waste time and procrastinate because your sense of time is diminished and social networking, YouTube, Netflix, etc are time warps into the future. I'm probably known for rarely finishing projects. You forget vital items. You forgo chores only because you forgot or are distracted. Bouts of distraction can impact driving. I've forgotten several things during work, nothing to jeopardize my job, but things that'll probably give the employer pause before promoting or commending me. I don't have ADHD meds only because I'm uninsured in glorious bootstrap country we call the US. I've used ADHD meds though and I haven't gotten addicted; I find caffeine more addictive, but that's from my experience.

Yep. I'm also autistic as well. I didn't get diagnosed with it until I was 2.
