Sound won't come out of my Wii U

I don't have any sound coming out of my speakers, but comes out perfectly on a set of headphones. How do I fix it?
 
It's your speaker settings or a faulty HDMI cable. Have you tried using other speakers?
 
It is the speakers in the gamepad that won't work.
 
Probably a hardware issue then, I suppose. Was it always like this or did it happen recently?
 
It happened recently, my Wii U is old, I bought it in 2014.
 
Yeah, sounds like a hardware failure. Sorry about that, looks like the only solution to that is sending it in for repair or getting a new one.
 
The former isn't an option as I use my Wii U for most of my online activities. My uncle repairs a lot of things including electronics he fixed one of my gamecube controllers. So I'll have to call him, it takes a few hours to do it compaired to a few weeks by sending it in to Nintendo.
