Here's what it is with the sideview of the pipe on the right:

I do agree it is more balanced that way. Shall I upload it this way?
Yes, I think that looks better.

Forewarning: I am not good with graphic design by any means. I wanted to create a mock-up with my thoughts, so there's plenty of room for improvement.

In any case, since the discussion around the FA banner has died out, I wanted to throw it my own idea. Nearly everything about the image is a placeholder, but the main point is the characters looking up, almost in awe, towards the "Featured Articles" text, similar to how our featured articles are supposed to represent the best of the best and therefore inspire awe. The characters are taken from screenshots of Mario Party 4's intro; I cropped them out to the best of my ability and resized them to fit the banner. At the very least, I wanted to generate some more discussion about the banner, even if none of my ideas are used.

I think your version is good, but I prefer the one from TPG.

Had some free time, so I made a version of the featured articles banner, heavily based off of TPG's. Let me know what you guys think.

EDIT: Text and the Mario artwork are now bigger, I think it looks a lot nicer this way.

I like how everyone stands there all shocked-like, but Luigi's just like "Eh, okay."

In that opening, Luigi's as scared, if not, more scared than the other guys.

I really like that one. The colors of the "Featured Articles" text looks really good, and they don't mess up the background.

Thanks! I also made an alternate version where the letters are individually coloured rather than given a gradient. Here's both for comparison:

I'd say the gradient looks better due to the calmer background.

I think the text should be larger, and also saved as a png rather than a jpg. And if the theme is Mario Party, I believe the text should have shape patterns in it, like with the MP logos. Other than that, it checks out.

P.E: Oh, you already made the stuff bigger. My bad.

I'll revise my banner idea soon.

I like the nongradient one better. The dark blue / violet in the gradient one doesn't contrast well with the background, but it's not a problem with the nongradient one.

How does this one look? I'm not exactly sure how to do the shape patterns...

I quite liked the gradient one but that one also looks great.

I definitely prefer the most recent banner. (although minor nitpick: what exactly is mario supposed to be pointing to? the wiki logo?)

The reason I proposed that we used this artwork was because Mario would be saying like: Hey! Let's-a-choose this article and make it featured!

I don't want to be painted as a perfectionist, but I don't like the jaggedness of the text. Is there any way you can render this (as in the title ONLY) with vectors rather than pixels?

Unfortunately I don't know of any ways to do that; I have Illustrator on my school computer but I won't have access to it until Tuesday.

You can look up how to do certain effects in Illustrator, but I'm sure you can achieve similar results. You can use border and embossing features in there if I recall correctly.

I'd like to help but I just don't have the dedication to create new banners as much as I want to.
