There is no way to ensure the sleep clause as a pokemon may have a move with a side effect of having a chance of put a pokemon to sleep and rng could choose to make it put more than one pokemon to sleep. Same goes for the freeze clause.
From my knowledge, I believe Meloetta's Relic Song is the only move with a secondary effect to cause Sleep (but Meloetta is banned), and then Secret Power in tall grass/Grassy Terrain? But wi-fi battles aren't treated as tall grass so it should be fine there. And using those 2 moves together isn't really worth the moveslots lol

Although freeze clause I can understand that we can't enforce it since it's always a secondary effect. :p

I'll join, even if I'm likely going to get wrecked. I'll send out information later.

Ok, I thought there were more. I agree with enforcing Sleep Clause.

I think those clauses are terrible and so is everyone who needs them to be able to play.  If you need to ban a core aspect of the game because your smogon team isn't premade to handle it, you should git gud.

Meh, sleep hax annoys me, especially since you have a 50/50 chance of waking up so it can potentially shut down your whole team, with little effort required. And my team isn't a standard smogon team... all my movesets were created by me.

And Evasion moves are the most annoying moves I have ever faced. I get frustrated when a CPU opponent spams Double Team.

It isn't a matter of a team being able to handle it, it literally comes down to luck.

Everything comes down to luck in this when you get down to it lol, and it personally annoying you means absolutely nothing.  There's lots of things that annoy me in pokemon games but !!!!!!!!! wowo I don't ban them because I realize they're part of the game and I need to adjust my strategy to handle them.

In addition to the counter point that successfully landing a sleep move has a % chance too, it's a best-of-3 system so even if it gets you down one round you should be able to rebound.

Well, that's not actually how it works.

You have a Sleep counter that is a max of 3; everytime you get the message "[Pokemon] is fast asleep", it decreases by one (having the Early Bird abilty makes it decrease by 2). When it hits 0, then you wake up.

You have to be lucky to not get a Sleep counter of 3 (I seem to get it each time tho). :p

Either way, I would prefer if it were in place, but I don't mind if it's without (and no my team isn't really a Smogon one either) lol.

Wait actually I forgot Effect Spore can cause it too (and some can actually use the ability if you're not Breloom lol), perhaps it's just simpler if we don't use it. =P

Excuse me as I go put a bunch of sleep absorbers now jk

I'm gonna be completely honest and ultimately say no to implementing the Sleep or Evasion Clauses (or any other Clauses there might be, I forget what the other ones I read were). I really don't like how they take so much out of the game - sleep and evasion are natural parts of the game and it seems kind of... really unnecessary to ban them outright from a competitive standpoint. o.o

Sure, I'll sign up for both, even though I haven't played this game in a long time and forgot everything about everything.

Stooben has signed up through Steam!

Thank you all so, so much for signing up! The fact we have reached the 20-player plateau is amazing and I am honestly speechless, especially considering we only had 10 back in 2013. So thank you all soooo much. Sign-ups are still open for the rest of the month! Keep up that training :'D

Per DragonFreak's announcement of leaving, I am unfortunately removing her from the sign-up list.

About 13 days left to get sign-ups in, guys! Get the rest of that training in!

I have a question. Do we have to reveal our teams to our opponent before the battle?

Nah, revealing your teams to your opponent isn't mandatory whatsoever and that's entirely up to the participants if they want to do that, but I'm not enforcing it at all. :')
