Sorry for sounding dumb but like I was wondering, if I bought an eshop card would I have to pay sales tax for it? I know I don't have to for wii points cards but I'm not sure if the same thing goes for eshop cards or not.
 
Yes, you have to pay sales tax on the card itself. There isn't taxation on the money once it's on your account (I think there is in certain states/countries, though).
 
Like M4E said, buying a card takes tax (unless you're in a tax-free state) but not buying the games with the points.
 
Sales tax is for the card, but for the eShop, getting points no longer requires sales tax (like the Wii Shop Channel/DSi Shop), but getting games does instead.
