My research tells me that it was published by T2 Publishing (T2出版). Wouldn't they technically be beneath Shogakukan in terms of validity?

yeah.

but we have that guide and we don't have the shoga one. if the shoga guide is found and says something different then their names will be used.
Rest in peace, Walkazo.

I have a couple of super-old black-and-white scans of Shoga's guide, and Mock-Up isn't listed with the enemies.

Out of curiosity, is there an alternate name for the decoy Shy Guy?

I remember pouring through Nintendo Power's guide not long ago, and despite them naming many redundant enemies, that one was not among them.

Edit: If you were asking if the decoy Shy Guy is in Shogakukan's guide, yes it is. And it has the same name and everything. Just look under the bandit.

Double Edit: I just noticed that in T2's guide, Lantern Ghosts, who are normally Kantera-kun (カンテラくん), are billed as Chika Heihō (地下ヘイホー). I hope I'm not gonna have to hunt down more than just Shogakukan guides now...

Huh. Looks like the two types of Blarggwiches/Support Ghosts have different Japanese names.

More quick Ashley stuff:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

- "Also in the middle of true love's true love! Valentine's Day Ashley-sama~" (pretty weird one: "true love" is repeated for some reason - dunno if the whole thing's an idiom or something)
- "Holding [some] homemade chocolates while resting! Sitting Ashley-sama is also super-cute!"
- "Valentine's Day Ashley / Witch-in-training's homemade chocolates! [Will those who] eat it magically fall in love!?"

Clarifation of a Japanese Waluigi bio has been requested, which may confirm that he's is not Wario's brother.

EDIT: Has been resolved, thanks GBAToad!

Sorry that I stupidly didn't ask here first and foremost, but I wanted to know what is written here in the caption, as it seems to talk about Bowser's design and the involvement of Kotabe and Tezuka in this sketch:

I want to know what is written on these cards, as I think the text on them could be worthy of adding to the character's "Official profiles and statistics" page/section.

^^ In addition to the above, I'd like to know if these cards refer to Candy Kong or Candy Clone. I can't find any "names in other languages" text on the wiki to match it myself.

The card shown below was already given the name "Robo Candy" from the source it was found. Could someone please confirm that?

I posted about these cards on Reddit, and it got a reply:

Do you want the answer to the post or actual translations? Anyway, it's just the effect of each card, there's no info worthy of adding to a character bio.
The first two images on the second post are about Candy Kong. The last one is about Robo·Candy (I assume that's Candy Clone).
Hope that helps :)

This would be a huge ask of someone, but there seems to be a potential staff interview for Super Mario Land 2. And judging by the illustrations, it may discuss how Wario's character was developed too. I'd be ecstatic about a full translation.

Man, Wario must have been such an enigma back then. The one thing they were sure of, and then it turned out to actually be garlic. Unless his real favorite is some ungodly combination of garlic and crepes... :-X

Asked this a while back in the KC Deluxe thread. Should probably have put it here - some questions on the Super Mario Land manga - http://imgur.com/a/BPYbA - not asking for a full translation, just a quick summary...

1) What's the deal with the robot costume Peach wears? I presume it's to do with her being jealous of Daisy, but why is it there, and what does "it" tell Mario it's doing there?
2) What's the deal with the Suu girl from Chapter 3? Does she get a name? Why does she go from trying to kill Peach to helping Mario in the boss fight - because he saved her? Why does she fade out in the end?

And names:
1) What do they call the goal tower? (pg 31)
2) Do the falling slabs on pg 36/37 get called anything?
3) Does the kill switch (which looks like a lever here, rather than the button from the game) that kills King Totomusu get called anything? Any suggestion on why it's there? (pg 45/46)
