Actually, Dreamy Mario doesn't exist in this game, the real world Mario goes into the Dream World.
Dreamy Luigi is the one you mean, he's your partner in the Dream World only, while the real world Luigi is your partner in the real world.

Well, Dreamy Mario is a boss in M&L: DT, in which Antasma creates a "clone" of Mario.
