Decay of voting results?
« on: June 21, 2011, 08:32:46 PM »
Over the last few years, most awards (especially new games) seem to be biased towards new games in the eventual results; for instance, NSMB beat the more influential and arguably larger Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World for the title of Best Platformer, and Best Game usually goes to the newest 2 platformers plus TTYD.

Well yes, but that's because if the games are older, it's more likely people haven't played them yet, so they only vote for the the ones they have played

Maybe you should give them a background of each game so they just don't say the games that they've played, maybe another game they would like to try.

We've looked into that and may try it next year.  It will take a lot of work, but I believe Polldaddy's features allow it.
