Tales of Vesperia

I found out about guard cancelling and this sure makes things a little safer. Using an arte when you're surrounded will just knock you out of it but at least if I can get an enemy by itself I can just pummel it up against a wall safely.

There was an animated cut scene and I've got new battle music so I must be in the second act. Judith is like Regal Bryant with tits. I tried fighting the Green Giganto monster but it kicked my ass so I'll just do it some other time. I like Fatal Strikes but I can never get them to activate at a good time and I can't just let the boss fall out of hitstun while I wait for the AI to make it appear again. Against normal enemies they're just dead before any symbol can appear. I get the idea behind FS chains but I don't think I have the huge brain or timing to pull it off.

If I had one complaint it would be that using the analog stick during fights is too hard due to the sensitivity of it detecting jumps, but using the d-pad for exploration is rigid because the camera angles and area layouts don't work with the 8 directions you use. Also I don't think I can use party commands with d-pad controls. Free run got nerfed from Abyss but it's still super useful.

Also I didn't figure out that shops weren't seperated by general/weapons/etc. until I got to Rita's place so I had to backtrack to the towns I'd already been to to get the early weapons. I was wondering where Yuri's backstep was hiding for so long and it was in the first town.

Playing this has made me realise how much I missed the Tales style that was used for Symphonia/Abyss/Vesperia. I like the weapon skills, it keeps me rotating my party members to make sure I don't miss things. I was going to play English dub but I've heard bad things about the replacement voices for the new content/skills so I just stuck with Japanese. I can see why Yuri tops all the popularity polls for this series just from a few hours of playtime.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Yoshi and DK's fairs are so satisfying to use, specifically when killing Incineroar at 20% as punishment for choosing FD. Bowser is still the only character I have in Elite, I started playing the others more to try get them in but I guess maybe GSP looks at w/l ratio at least somewhat because it seems way harder to get these characters in than it was for Bowser. I also just lose more often with them so that could be all it is too. It would explain why 3 wins with Mewtwo skyrocketed his score before I started getting losses.

Dragalia Lost

Master challenge is doable. I was close with a Lv20 facility so I'll just make another attempt at Lv30. I'm glad they're looking into double wyrmprints, I don't hate them they just aren't usable enough in their current state and the free ones tend to outweigh the gacha ones in usefulness. I've just not been using my wings, the state of host/join during events is so trash I'm glad they're fixing it.

I heard the crunchyroll subs for Kaguya are bad but that's the only problem I've come across and there's another group subbing it better so I might binge watch it once it's over. or just read the manga again.

but you said you werent going to watch it at all
I said I was going to wait and see what people say about it and the general reception seems pretty good.

It was a maybe but I already started reading the manga again so it's unlikely anyway.

Apparently Australia blocked a bunch of sites for downloading/watching subs. 'here's a list of sites that we don't want you to use, also don't use a vpn to access anything on this convenient list pretty please.'

I would feel bad for the wolf players that SD if they weren't playing wolf.

mother*bleep*ers gotta stop using low time limit any stage 3 stock rulesets with *bleep*ty connections

There was a Ridley player a week ago that beat me 3 times while I was DK, he had some really obvious move choices (side b at the edge notably) but I'm bad so I rarely punished it until the last game where I sd'd when I had the lead and tilted. I saw him again today except I was Ridley now as well. I hope he remembered me as I beat him with his own character.

Fate/Extra CCC

It's crazy how much more interesting this game is than Extra right from the start, Extra almost feels like it only existed so you could learn the characters and give them some development so that when they show up here you're attached. Leo without a stick up his ass anymore is a really fun character. Julius playing the straight man after his entire depressing character arc is nice.

It seems like this game is inheritly less bull*bleep* than the previous game because characters have fixed stats and so enemies are based around that. I can take a few hits using Tamamo and not get a game over instantly and you recover HP/MP upon levelling up. Save states cause the music to die until a new track starts so I'm going to be forced not to cheat very often unfortunately.

The new challenge battle difficulty is interesting, I can make it to the final wave before getting beaten badly but my facility is still low. If this shows anything it's that the next step after making teams for each element is making teams for each resistance. I threw some wyrmite at the showcase, got some prints and lots of Unicorns.

Fate/Extra CCC

I was reading the Gil route translation and figured I might as well just play along since not having the visuals and voices was bugging me. I chose Tamamo even though the translation has nothing for her dialogue but if there was any character that's easiest to decipher, it would be her. She wears her heart on her sleeve. Her new clothes certainly aren't hiding anything jesus christ.

I'm not terribly surprised Yoshi is at the top, I felt like after the changes they made to trick shots that Yoshi's speed went from unnecessary to incredibly useful.

Not that I can find anyone that plays online in Australia these days. Those co-op challenges might as well not exist at all for me and even though the rewards for them are cosmetic, having them be locked out from me because of things out of my control left me a little bitter so I've pretty much stopped playing this completely.

thank god for save states and x2 speed. It was a nice game but very slow and the gameplay was just... who really thought Rock-Paper-Scissors is an okay battle system. It was more of a pain because I chose Caster who has low defense and died after 3 mistakes. By the end of the game enemy skills would just OHKO her, although there were stuns and skills I could use to avoid those. I think using save states to get perfect rounds and avoid ohko's was more fun than what the actual game would have been.

It was nice of Buddha to show up and be the final boss. real cool of him to do that.

man I can't even beat this boss when I'm over the suggested level and cheating.

There's only one unnamed npc left alive, I haven't checked to see who it is but I kind of hope it's flower girl because I've been expecting her to die every round. I finally unlocked Tamamo's Noble Phantasm but completely forgot to use it during the Elimination Battle. I feel like the stupid clown girl didn't need to exist, it was 100% filler content. I absolutely wouldn't play this game without save states, the amount of rng in just one round of attacks is enough to game over if you happen to guess wrong a few times. You know your base gameplay mechanics are garbage when *bleep*ing FGO does it better.

I think the next round is Rani since they obscure the name so they could swap her out for Rin. I don't expect to fight Leo until the final chapter. I can see why people say CCC is the better one, Extra just seems so incredibly basic comparatively. I guess I'm in the last quarter so maybe they'll have something up their sleeve.

idk how the *bleep* anyone could play this game without save states. It's probably easier with Saber, I guess Caster can technically do some stun-locking stuff at this point but those first 3 rounds are a huge pain in the ass. Even now a few hits equals death. I'm always expecting Sakura to say something weird but I guess she plays no role in this game.

I appreciate the npc dialogue and how both the amount of them drop as they die and the ones that live get more serious along the way. Except for the *bleep* on the second floor that keeps telling me to *bleep* off, he's been like that since day 1. I hope he's gone when I check to see who died last round.

Ever Oasis

I have no *bleep*ing clue what I'm doing anymore.

I was gonna play this a while ago but I don't have a PSP and it's not downloadable on Vita, so I took the back road. I liked the opening even though it was literally F/SN with some minor changes until some characters like Leo showed up. I know the basic gist of the Extraverse so I knew it was a simulation and that the NPC I was playing as wasn't what the avatar looks like. It pulled off the creepy vibe well.

I thought about going with Saber since apparently she's much better in this game then her subsequent appearances (Also she's the most basic choice), but I decided on just going with Caster even though she is a huge pain to keep alive in Rock-Paper-Scissors; the game. Fortunately I have the great power of save states.

Etrian Odyssey Nexus, not too long now.

Tales of Vesperia, I waited until I heard more about each version and apparently the switch one runs worse (shock) so I'll get the ps4 one.

Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon whenever I get around to finishing Darkness.

Yoshi's Crafted World probably.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Online is more fun when I swap character every game, I don't get stuck in bad habits as much (that's what I like to tell myself). Will always hate fighting Links and Dedede though. I can't believe Dedede is the only character that got away with not losing his taunt in the taunt ban. Online is still 80% *bleep* and it's honestly so difficult to enjoy playing when there's any noticeable delay. Sometimes I just go to the edge and let people get easy hits to knock me off so I don't have to fight them and technically bypass the warnings. I play Corrin in the rotation now.

Fate/Grand Order

First Hassan eludes me. I guess I'll be keeping Mata Hari on my support screen for now for *bleep*s and jgiggles, nobody uses Assassin supports that aren't Jack anyway. I did use Mata Hari against the final boss of Part 1 so she is my mvp assassin. Very Good VA . Waver+Lunchtime and Lv100 Raikou+Kscope net me a lot of friend points. I hope the people who accepted my friend request when I was new have noticed me.
Spoiler: 2019 Support Screen (click to show/hide)

Dragalia Lost

EX Rank Luck. Got Sarisse, I didn't particularly need her but my Fire team is pretty lacking so it'll help. Double resistance is 'powercreep' but I have a tough time caring when (almost) all content is low difficulty and clearable with whoever you like. High Dragon Trials have a limited character pool and stricter dragon requirements so more characters existing that can participate in them isn't a negative, it's not like there's a leaderboard with exclusive rewards to worry about. Let's hope it stays that way permanently.
