For its time the animation was actually well-done imo, you have to remember that this wasn't a movie for the big screen, it was a TV show that had to make a lot of episodes and it's pretty impressive they could pull off 3D for that kind of thing at all at the time. But yeah it probably would've aged much better if it was traditionally animated.

I honestly think this series is better off leaving romantic relationships up to fan interpretation and not trying to force any specific narrative beyond small cute interactions that don't necessarily imply a committed relationship. Well outside characters that are more closely tied to one specific game, like the obvious Timpani and Blumiere. And any characters that are canonically married, but this doesn't apply to the series regulars that are instead portrayed as just a big group of buddies. Yeah there are male + female pairs that are more commonly grouped together but I don't think there should be anything more than that.

That aside, this game looks really cool. I only played a few minutes of the original Luigi's Mansion and never played Dark Moon, but out of those two I liked the designs of the first better, and I'm glad to see that being returned to at least to an extent. I also love that we can jokingly call this "Hotel Luigi." As always Luigi is *bleep*ing adorable, but it was funny to see him just totally lose it on the ghosts with that slam ability. He's come a long way from Luigi's Mansion 1  :luigi:

And then clickbait YouTube channels always mentioning it as a canon fact almost every time they talk about Luigi or Daisy. Which doesn't help because then their viewers believe it as canon. I think a lot of the shippers genuinely believe it's canon because of that.

Castle theme at night is basically zero gravity, so underwater physics for Mario in the air. Enemies don't seem affected by it and still walk on the ground. Well I know I can finally make more faithful Chapter 4 SPM remakes :D

Luigi's Mansion was cool, but other than that there wasn't much of note for me until Banjo was revealed, that was hype.

lol at Mario Maker 2 only appearing in the sizzle reel. Not gonna lie, as one of the only things I knew existed that I was hyped for, was hoping for more info on that to fall back on when the new announcements were boring but eh. At least Banjo got some hype out of me. That'll be the reaction I post ;D

I had a pretty lukewarm reaction to Hero, but Banjo was super hype, especially since after they showed Hero I had decided that was our character and we weren't getting another, and was slightly disappointed after all the buildup to Banjo. The rest of the Direct was just trailers I didn't care about, except for Luigi's Mansion 3 and (I guess) Mario & Sonic. SMM2 was only in the sizzle reel lol. But Banjo stole the direct definitely. I've never even played B-K but they definitely made the right call with which MS-owned character to add, Banjo and Kazooie are Nintendo characters in most fans' hearts and seeing them reunited with the DK crew, in a follow-up to K. Rool's trailer at that, was amazing. I almost want to try and get Banjo-Kazooie now.

I have absolutely nothing to say about this.

My signature now generates a unique Super Mario Maker level layout on each refresh.

Technically not today, but last Friday my crown fell out again. While in bed this time, and I'd been very careful with my diet too. Well, I'm not having it put back in this time, it was torture avoiding so many of my favorite foods just to keep that thing from falling out, I'd rather leave it out and eat burgers again

On that subject of musical reuse, a lot of SPM's soundtrack uses the motifs from either Flipside or Count Bleck's theme (in some cases both, like Castle Bleck and Bounding through Time)

It's really cool how many moods can be achieved with one or two strings of notes based on the instrumentation, key or tempo. Count Bleck's theme can sound intimidating and evil, or emotional and powerful just based on how it's used.

I just want a merchandise line for subseries like Mario & Luigi, like actual quality figures and whatnot, not just some accessories with artwork printed on them. The BIS styluses were closer to what I want, but I want something like the World of Nintendo figures. Make it limited run, do whatever you gotta do, all I need is for it to exist and I'll make the rest work somehow.

If I can get an official plushie or standalone figure of Fawful my life will officially complete. I suppose this falls under option 2. But some official clothing would be nice too.

So apparently Meowser replaces Bowser in 3DW style (you can't place regular Bowser in that style). Slightly disappointing that you can't have a traditional Bowser battle in a 3DW level but hey Meowser's moveset is dope. I've seen P-switches that attach to the ceiling too, and you can change the music to Super Mario Kart, Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine or Super Mario Galaxy music which is just awesome.

I'm a bit bummed about the lack of costumes as I never saw the amiibo tie-in as their main appeal anyway (what with the ability to unlock them without amiibo and the existence of costumes that don't correspond to amiibo) so they could've worked perfectly fine as a mechanic independent of amiibo. But overall holy *bleep* the wait for this game is just gonna drag slower and slower the more awesome things they show lol.

What are the purpose of the goggles on top, I wonder? Do they lend him some extra sight?
If you refer to the yellow eyes, they are his source of sight. Well, for the helmet. Fawful could, I suppose, tap into its vision if he needs to, but they are primarily for the helmet to be able to see even when Fawful is not using it, as it's meant to be capable of operating independently as a minion as well.

Some of you may have already seen this when Moldo posted it in the fanart thread, but this is a mockup I made of a Paper Mario theme in SMM2. It was initially featured in my Top 10 Wanted SMM2 Features video, but really blew up later when I posted it on Twitter.
