Why do guests always look at extremely old topics?

Re: Why do guests always look at topics that no one has posted in for like 3 years?

For entertainment, maybe? I do see a lot of them looking at Mafia.

We're just lucky that when people make accounts, they don't bump that thread for no reason. Actually, that happens quite a bit.

Re: Why do guests always look at topics that no one has posted in for like 3 years?

I remember once there was a surprising number of guests looking at a 2006 thread titled "Is grabbed by the ghoulies part of the Marioverse" and I wondered if 4Chan or Something Awful linked to it

Re: Why do guests always look at topics that no one has posted in for like 3 years?

I do it because I'm bored and curious.

Re: Why do guests always look at topics that no one has posted in for like 3 years?

I think the better question to ask is why they're always "deleting messages".

Exactly, yet I still see them apparently "deleting a message".

It forever baffles me.

Some people hide their online status, meaning that guest is a user.

Oh man, that thread's like a nostalgia bomb, with so many members of the old guard posting and such, and about such a classic topic at that. Oh the Banjo and Conker coverage memories...

Someone told this to me a while back.

Re: Why do guests always look at topics that no one has posted in for like 3 years?

no, it doesn't work like that. people who are hidden are completely absent from the online users list. they don't show up at all.

i don't know why it says guests are deleting messages, though

someone lied to me though and I don't even remember who

Re: Why do guests always look at topics that no one has posted in for like 3 years?

i sometimes look at my older posts (and cringe at some times) so yeah

Re: Why do guests always look at topics that no one has posted in for like 3 years?

my best guess is that they find it through some term on a search engine that brings it up

or then there was that time where a thread from here got linked in an article about smg2 or something and we got a shit ton of guests for months

Re: Why do guests always look at topics that no one has posted in for like 3 years?

theyre probably spiders

Now guests will see this thread and know we can see what they are doing.

i guess you thought i was making some kind of joke, but i wasnt. there is a type of software called a spider, and that is what the guests looking at "topics that no one has posted in for like 3 years" probably actually are

well i was actually making a reference to binding of isaac but sure ill go with that

althought the whole spider software thing would probably make sense

Re: Why do guests always look at topics that no one has posted in for like 3 years?

What?! There was a guest who was "logging into the forum".
