I haven't done it in Brawl, but I did it in Melee to get Falco.

I used Jigglypuff, so I could just float away from the Battlefield if things got too intense.

That never really worked for me since you're susceptible to aerial attacks and items

My best method is to use Ike, stand underneath a platform, and abuse up tilt

I don't usually abuse any moves, I use Mario or Bowser. It's the items I abuse, like the sword or the Bombs.
